I am really curious how games end up in this state. Great CG, decent settings, but the actual gameplay, you know, what differentiates this medium from others, just seems completely random.

Certain events can only be progressed if you've done other events, some are totally obscure.

You can't just skip the old content by pressing ctrl button to see new content,Even with ren'py the game repeatability will be hard the game asks you to interact with items or people constantly also in this game there is also nothing like walking around the city like rpgm engine.Renpy will not shorten the game time.We still get the cheats with this engine.

But I can still agree you on this. with renpy the ram usage and slowness due to trash codes will decrease

You don't need if you already have v9.0. The patch is intended for v8.0 and 8.1 owners to update their games to v9.0.
