I want to point out a few things.
1. I'm very active on my discord server (which the access is free) and I read all the comments and messages on my patreon page. I informed my patrons and the people who are on my discord channel why this update is short, also I think there is a post of me here on F95 explaining why. I'm not very active here so I can't be blamed for that, I visit here once in one or two weeks and that's all, reason is too many posts and pointing out the very same reason over and over like for example walkthrough. There is a built in hint system that works good and no need for extra walkthrough, some time when the player see menu without hint, it means whatever you choose won't have any big impact but it's mostly difference in upcoming conversations.
2. Writing bad reviews. I see 3 bad reviews with 1 star in less than 24 hours, which never happened. I'm not mad at all, I just want to say that if you root for other game or you work on your personal game, it's rude to disguise as normal user and go and write bad reviews on games that are competition to your favorite game. I try to picture myself doing that and I can't honestly.
This is a website when everyone can write anything and with that the objectivity of the reviews is on 0 (zero).
3. Why this update was so short? Couple of reasons, honestly.
First reason is that picking this particular yacht was very bad choice of me, objects flying around, bad placement of almost every object that is in the yacht, stairs floating above the floor, etc. Not optimized graphics in the yacht asset also adds to the pile of problems.
Second reason is that the yacht event occurs at night. Dark images takes more time for render if there isn't good lighting system. Lights can bounce of from the glass and mirrors and if they are not set correctly, you can actually see them on a surface like glass and mirrors. Stronger the light means stronger shadows, shadows are sworn rendering time enemy.
Third reason is a lot of new clothes. New clothes means new set of hair and skin clipping problems. Every new clothes means hours of adjusting them to the characters so the player won't see any weird clipping.
Fourth reason is multiple characters per scene. Every character and asset has it's own video memory usage and every graphic card has it's limits. I have a scenes where you can clearly see up to 10 characters in one scene and that's not easy when you have to pose correctly every visible character to look natural. Scenes like those also tops the graphic card limit so you don't just press render button and wait for the scene to be finished but you render bit by a bit.
With all that, the average rendering time for yacht event is about 2 hours per render. Average rendering time in Luke's office in Angels Media is about 20-30 minutes.
