It's unfortunate to hear about the art situation. Having to redo half of the content in the game must be a huge undertaking. After seeing the new drawings though, I'm not all that worried. While the old artist had an obviously high level of skill, I think the new art sines in its own way. To me the characters seem a bit more like regular people rather than super models, making the story a bit more relatable in my opinion. So at least it has that going for it if you want to look at it in a positive light.

The biggest question I think you could ask would be if this was the very first version and you never saw the old art, would you still play it? My answer would be yes.

I think I'll stay with older version with previous art. I mean, it has one the best drawings in any adult games.

I understand the need for a new artist and going back and making sure everything is consistent, but I was hoping it would at least have the same amount of content as where they left off. Instead we are back to where the .01 left off...

I just cant understand the whining about the new art. Yes the old art was something else on a level never hereto seen of a silly renpy porn game. But the new stuff is still really, really good.

The reigning defending undisputed heavyweight champion of the world of silly renpy porn games is GGGB, and the new art for this game still blows GGGB's art out of the water. If Lust Campus' final form has similar love and care for the story, it could be a real contender for the title.

Also I hope none of the artists read this thread it'd be so discouraging, and if they are; I love all your work, if I was your mom I'd put it up on the fridge for sure!

I feel sorry for the new artist. The old art was simply amazing, and even though the new art is really good it was quite jarring to see the change. If the art looked like this from the start nobody would complain. It is simply that the shoes that is being filled was quite large.

I prefer the old art, however, the new art is great.

Honestly I don't like the new art. It's not that's it objectively worse or something like that, but I felt that the previous art really stood out. Besides that, I don't like when devs changes character designs between releases (same goes for AAA games).

An important part of GGGB's success was the fact that the developer consistently delivered updates and changed almost nothing in the game's visuals and design during development. So I feel like this comparison is unfair because art never was a strong suit of the GGGB, for example people often complained that art was traced from photos.
As for this game it looks like we are back to version 0.1 so I can't say anything about story and gameplay because game lacks content.
I have seen so many projects that have been restarted many times before being abandoned or put on hold due to the development of another game, so I am rather negative about such moves

Why can't you just keep the old style of art? Great or not, the new art makes me feel this is a different game. People say: don't fix it if it is not broken. It would be more reasonable to replace the art with a better one. however, the fact is you gave up the better one and started over again from Chapter one? I am curious about why you chose to do so; it is a little confusing.

I think the worst thing for me is. Yes, the new art isn't bad. But the very thing I looked so much forward to with this game was the old art style. I was excited by the level of strokes and lines. The old phenomenally better than any other style i saw before. But taking it away has hurt this game considerably. I will still support this dev. I just wish the game would go back to the old style. I would also like to hear why this decision was made in the first place.

The new art is fine. People are making mountain out of a mole hill
It wouldn't be F95 if they weren't.

And for those hating on Tom -- and assuming being long-time Ren'py players -- CTRL absolutely works. I only needed to read enough to make the proper dialogue choice to shut him down.

It's been explained thoroughly throughout this thread. The previous artist would require royalties to continue to use his work as long as the game was developed -- so Red Lolly would have to pay two artists, one not even involved in the project anymore.

EDIT: Not singling you out, just yours was the latest post I was replying to, but this now being on the "Latest Updates" page is clearly bringing in a lot of easily-confused and/or belligerently-ignorant members.

Maybe if a FAQ was created, but the people who need it most won't bother.

I see. It is a tragedy; it is very irresponsible for an artist to leave in the middle of the development. I think it would be a lesson to all devs: sign the long-term contract in the first place.

Oh no, we got the dreaded reboot? I would rather keep the art from the first 5 chapters. And switch art for chapter 6 and beyond.
According to afterlight, devs still need to pay the extra artist who no longer works for this project in this case.

F**k the art issue. Yes, it is inferior to previous but it is still good and it is irrelevant issue.
Main problem is content. Are we really getting this much in 3 and a half month with most story already written.
With this pace new content is scheduled for 2030 at best. And subscribers paid 10.000€+ for this much of remake.

So.. if the dev cannot use images created by the old artist anymore then how come that this is still in the game?

What is so hard to understand? The dev didn't want to change the art style. It was forced onto her. We all liked the old art (including the dev), but it's gone. The old art is no more, it has ceased to be, it's bereft of life, it rests in peace, it is an ex-art. Get over it!

And instead of giving up the game alltogether the dev found a new artist and started all over. Yourself noted the considerable difference in style, so it wouldn't have made a lot of sense to mix the art styles together. There was NO OTHER WAY than to restart the project.

Stop whining, get a grip, and start to enjoy the game you get for free!
