That's the problem. People think creating a game is a hobby. Have you seen this game? This is professional work, it's not a hobby. You can't compare it to the majority of Patreon games, half-cooked russian money grabs.

There are a lot of devs making a living creating porn games: Mr. Dots, Dr. Pink Cake, Dark Cookie, Eva Kiss, just to name a few. And they make awesome games because they can do it full-time and professionally. RedLolly want to do the same and the quality of their work clearly shows it. This game not something you get from someone who "does this as a hobby". Have you any idea how much must have costed to commission all this art, backgrounds, UI design, etc?

All they're saying is that to be able to make this project their job they need that minimum amount to share between two people. That amounts to a pretty average salary. Is that really too much to ask for? If you think it is, then all we will get will be amateurish half-baked games that get abandoned because lack of support.

Without supporting devs we won't get great games, there would be no Summertiem Saga, no Being a DIK, no Good Girl Gone Bad. Let's not bash artists for wanting to make a living out of their art, come on. We should encourage a job well done and hope more people are able to make great games we can enjoy
There is those that can make a living out of it, but they didn't start out like that. No one was handing DarkCookie a check of almost 70k a month from the get go.

You never any better than your last game. Once your "success" game is done, it's not a given your next game will be a big success and you retain your supporters. If you already got a job, give it up to go full time "adult games creator" with patreon as a funding platform would be frankly retarded. You build your community, fans and income over time on such a platform.

It's not about not support creators or games. It's the way they go about it which I already wrote above and you seems to ignore. In simple words; When you run a business, you need to create trust between yourself and your customers.

It looks super good, but it's a shame about the patreon minimum thing. This sort of thing takes time to build a a following that trusts you, and for a first-time dev to expect it to happen overnight after one release.. raises some red flags to say the least. I mean maybe she's banking on her IG followers flocking to it. We'll see.

Also, unrelated, but I find it funny that the game opens with this dismissive, patronizing message about how it's not like those other porn games... and then every character is the most homogenous, perfectly hot person ever. Even the "nerd" guy wouldn't look out of place playing Peter Parker in the next Spider-Man reboot.

But yeah, the art is super nice and I love CYOA stories so I hope it doesn't crash and burn.

I am still planning and I am very slow about it, but the quality is very good. As to patreon goal I understand it, yet also I hope devs understand that reaching any milestone will take and time and patience. With such good quality money should come in few more updates.

No, not really.
This is a "proof of concept" intro to a game. Its current worth is nothing, zilch, nada.
There are industry standards for developing games and unless you are able to provide an MVP with enough content to pitch to investors, you get squat.
Project RED invested $60 mil in their MVP of Witcher 3 before they started getting additional funding and showing hefty returns.
Expecting people to pay for the "proof of concept" - OR ELSE! (they abandon the game development) is as stupid as it can get.
There is always cost involved in starting a business, if this development team is not ready for it and expect they can blackmail people to pay for it (get $3000 or we quit), then, they should just quit because they are really not serious about starting this business.
Again you Fundamentally do not understand basic practices for freelance work, If you are A: A competent Individual well versed in your particular line of work then B : Operating at a loss when other other stream of revenue is available to you then C : You do not operate under that environment. That's where the 2.5k comes from it's most likely an artist that can and does get other revenue streams thats making a conservative estimate about what THEIR time is worth and the other people on the project. When you take this regressive thinking into account and immediately approach at it a negative operative standpoint it is not under a freelancers incentive to work under that structure. This why I must reiterate it is EXTREMELY rare to see competent artistry specifically in 2d work for patreon projects because it is not in their best interest to do so. Past projects like this game all failed because of the operating cost and the financial disincentive behind them. You can create some entrepreneurial adhoc bullshit about expected loss but it doesnt mean anything to professionals when they can go elsewhere. There is a financial value attributed to the game and its expected development cost. duncecap my dude.

Saw the screenshot with the sexting and immediately was reminded of Good Girl Gone Bad. Astounding art work, let's hope the story is as great as GGGB!

I don't think people here doubt the hard work, time and money that creating a good professional level game takes and I am pretty sure most might be even willing to monetarily support the developer on patreon if they really love the work. The issue here that most are pointing towards, is I think the monetarily goal that the developer has aimed for and the mention of abandoning the project if the goal is not attained.

In fact the monetary goal itself is not even a problem. It's great to have a certain goal no matter how high it is. The problem here is the way they have worded the statement and what it can mean for the future of the game. The fact that it has just been a single release and the game doesn't even have a proper fanbase to think that such lofty goal would be fulfilled in a short time. I mean you mention EvaKiss, Mr. Dot that is great, but you do not mention the fact that it took them years of hard work to build the fanbase and the sort of earnings that they currently have. They didn't start earning 2000-3000 USD just as they dropped their first release of their first game. No matter how professional the developer is, the developer is hardly known in the adult game industry. It takes time for a customer to build a trust upon a developer.

The statement would have been decent if she had already dropped 3-4 updates and had build a decent foundation for the game but as of now it is a fallacy. Also that goal/statement might turn people off from supporting the game because it does in a way sound like a blackmail. 'Support or no future updates.'

Also why would people support a game if there is a high chance the project could be abandoned at any instance?

I hate the way she's holding the game ransom and completely disagree with the strategy but let's be real.

She's got 30k followers on insta and she's ridiculously hot. She's absolutely going to meet that goal.

Good thing this version is short enough to comment on it a few minutes later. Art work, practically perfect. Story, has a decent set up and shows some effort in developing the characters. Technical problems, a few. Some language errors and one major plot hole where the protagonist mentions the outcome of a story path to her friend, even though you didn't do the story path. Well, that's programming for you.

This thing is really ambitious and it'll be glorious if they pull it off.

when i first saw this, i thought it was just 3D models put into renpy, but on close inspection, the art is actually CG and it looks hot AF, amazing work.
