Hi guys!
Here's a quick update on what we've been working on these last few days:
Like with every chapter, we first have to organize and structure all the different scenes we want there to be. This is partially done already since we are just remaking the chapter, but we also need to decide what scenes to change, what to add and what to remove, so not that much work saved after all.
Our artist, Fausto, is working on redesigning Sophie, with new dynamic poses and cute outfits that fit her sparkling personality. You'll see a lot of this work in a future "Making of" post.
Once we have finished with Sophie and the chapter structure, he will start with the new backgrounds and illustrations that this chapter will display.
Since many of you asked: the old version of LC isn't avalieble on Patreon anymore. That was a special request from Javier.

I hope Fausto has arranged a deal with Mephistopheles that will allow the artist to do the lewd scenes to the completion of this game.
He's literally the worst, and never should have been part of the project.

Unless you had a clause in your contract stating that you keep the ownership of your artwork and therefore you can ask them whenever you want not to use it anymore - or you don't have any clause at all but it's less traumatic for everyone to just do as you say because reasons.
For all that she's said so far, the guy didn't want to keep working on the game anymore, they agreed to keep paying him while his art was still the only art available for the game (therefore the reason why the game kept getting support on Patreon), and now that the rework has started to go public, he asks them to remove any trace of his old art from now on so that he can not be linked to this game anymore. It's not that crazy, actually.
That's actually not all that unreasonable, I have to admit.

There's just one thing that I can't explain: How could it be possible that the artist didn't know what kind of game RedLolly was planning to create? Who would have expected explicit art in an erotic game?
Did RedLolly keep him in the dark about her intentions? Hardly imaginable. It surely looks like the artist changed his mind at the most inopportune moment and at the same time withdrew his permission to use any existing art, though. This rendered him completely unreliable for RedLolly and made any ongoing cooperation nearly impossible. RedLolly did the right thing to change the artist. Not that she had a choice...

I can see the old artist thinking he could do it, and he did produce a few sex scenes while he was still working on the game. But I expect the developer wanted more explicit artwork (as do we all, after all), and a rift began developing as time went on. Resulting in where we are today.
I'm not trying to make excuses for the old artist. I believe as you do that he should have known what the nature of the genre was when he got into it.

We don't know the full story, nor will we ever know. I'm sure the original artist knew he was getting involved with a porn game, but for whatever reason, he didn't want to do it anymore, and didn't want his art associated with the project. Speculating on the why is just that, speculating.

I think that's the default for commissioned work and you'd actually need a (written) copyright transfer agreement to transfer the ownership from the artist to the game dev(s).
