I got tired of walking around and looking for nr:10 radiator, so... I cheated.
This got me passed the lasers, but I wasn't able to pick up the keycard and thus not able to proceed

Go on page 375. There is link to all Skeleton Keys locations. I didn't do that for Heart Containers, but I'll do eventually.

I followed Simon to the right, to the area with the short cliff face...but when I went there he'd disappeared, and there wasn't any gun. What gives?

Book maze. If I remember correctly go left once you enter and keeping going up. If there is no option to go up go left then up. Repeat this sort of thing to get most of the stuff in the maze. Just keep in one direction untill everything is found.
