You need to meet nauxus first in the swamp and help him fight off corrupted lizard and then just follow the story by bringing him to the temple and do whatever the story told you to.

Where do you search for Xer's hideout? I found him at the Corrupted Lake but then I can't find the hideout. Is it even somewhere within the swamp?

Xer hideout is in the underground. Try searching around the underground, if i remember right it's should be immediately unlocked after your first meeting but if not then you can just explore the underground till you found it.

Yup the nauxus taking a bath CG with text scene between mc and nauxus also nauxus x rhot.
