saveeditonline gives an error and RPG maker editor only allowed me to give myself money and exp. I need SL lol..

I thought the same thing and I'm having trouble finding the soul ink variable in that save editor you linked.

SL should be variable 217, based on my shitty RPGM decompiler.

Use this:

You must be registered to see the links

Open the save file on the website with a certain number of whatever item you want to edit. Then change the number of items you have, (use SL points or buy soul ink, etc.), then save in the same save slot. Then open the save on the website by drag dropping while your previous save file is still open. The website shows value changes for save files with the same name pretty clearly. The values to edit are their values in game. You can edit any item or value you want pretty easily like this.

Which tool would you recommend for this platform? Mind you I never tried to mtl before but I guess learning couldn't be anymore of a waste of time than simply waiting.

I use Adventcirno's tool
Beside the translation it's also an editor, useful for games that want you to grind mobs for a specific item/cash/force you to grind by making you face enemies with inflated HP

The only downside of it is for free users there is an upper limit for the files it will translate
