Understandable. I'm not Eromancer, though. I've just been pledged since a couple of months ago and while I understand the frustration, I think the hate and pessimism are undeserved given the frequency and transparency of their behind-the-scenes updates.
I agree Eromancer does post on a regular basis, I from time to time read them on here. I've always been impressed with the rendering and artwork, even the original material. On the technical side he has done some really clever and technical stuff. But reading the update on here the actions are all things like:
Continue work on the new UI design
Continue experimenting with Police H skill artwork
Continue Splicer overhaul direction
Continue work on Ven’s character overhaul
Not write XYZ scene, or render XYZ fight images or game over/cut scenes.
As for working hard, you can look at in another way, in those 19 months of no releases the earnings were probably around 8k per month. So a cool $150,000, I leave it to you to say whether what has been shown is a good return on investment.

Agreed. So much about this game ticks off boxes on my list: skintight bodysuits w/ suit degradation, punk-ish looking girls, excellent artwork (that Malise/soldier render is great), sci-fi setting, ATB, in-battle sex mechanics. I would gladly pay for the finished product. But I only let my dick dictate my spending on when there's an assured return on investment; I don't pay to get blue-balled.
I'd like to come to the defense of both "attackers" and "defenders" of Eromancer.
As many others, I've also joined the project and hastily hopped in Patreon and anticipated an update every month.
I was full with optimism and enthusiasm but after a while, almost a year, I've decided that this is too much waiting for nothing so I dropped my support.
I've seen how other patreon creators like Lewdlab, Phillygames, Hreinn Games and others provide frequent updates maintaint and increase their income and thus earning a lot more than Eromancer ever did (see Lewdlab).
From the above post of Dracis3D, the 1st comment quite accurately points to the flaws of Eromancer development scheme and points out the enormous amount of time the development might need when the number of enemies and interactions increase over time.
Which to some extend might be the case why Eromancer is consuming so much time developing various stuff in the game.
This could point slow progress, but still progress none the less, which for me and probably other enthusiasts is a good sign that this project wont die like others or even stop posting updates and slack like for instance Simbro did.
On the other hand by seeing the way Eromancer replies in sensitive threads like his Patreon page or even the ULMF post might point that he is either very sensitive and acts unprofessional towards the criticism that he received there.
And instead of finding a constructive way of addressing it, he decided to attack others and eventually close the thread.
Which for me looks very troublesome and worrying.
Also adding to this the fact that v0.511 was released in Octomber 2016 and we still do not know any release dates for v0.6 it makes it look more and more that the creator is mostly busy writing updates rather than really creating and showing them to the public.
Because for example, if he had the attitude of "Hey folks, I've made this and this great change, please have a check of it in the inner circle" and then release it to lower tiers of support after some time, than he would have:
1. Feedback from players.
2. Attract more supporters
3. Advertising them to buy the higher tier in order to play
4. Earn more than enough money to hire people that can help him with other aspects of the game, like PR (that would be better than him communicating with audience), script-writer to help him complete the story if he hasn't completed it yet or more developers if he needs such.
As I know he has only TK, AltairPL and Ubercharge to help him with development and also one guy working on the soundtrack which name I forgot.
And if he indeed have a marketing employee, than his team is 5-6 people big.
Now what I wonder is if he will wait for supporters to withdraw support and then start providing them with information/version when income is critically low.
Or he will take advantage of the current constant support and release new updates/game versions to boost his support.

That really comes down to his motivations and what camp you put Eromancer, the cynical will say game updates will happen if support keeps dropping. or he will just give up.
Of your spoiler I think point 2 (options = math overload) is the biggest game design obstacle for a completed game, and point 1 can annoy, though some love it. Only the latter is being addressed in the technical refresh, though I'm happy to be proved wrong. The numbers (enemy types, outfits, bad ends, cut scenes, choices and choice impacts, level up curves etc) should have all been designed in 2015. As with can you find the background tile-sets needed for RPG Maker levels.
Back when Combn Ation was the king of western RPG maker I considered a game in RPG Maker VX with render enemies. The map making, the time it takes to make cutscenes and events in RPG Maker, the rendering involved proved to me I didn't have the time to make a game. This was going to be a basic dungeon crawler as well. Just making puzzles is hard enough, even something like a key to a lower level (putting in enough enemies to make it a challenge, but not make it near to impossible, or make it to grindy). My point being, that aside from technical refreshes, making the game is really time consuming.
Could you please clarify the cynical part please? That the cynical people will believe that Eromancer is driven only by self interest and greed or that we people that wants this game to be completed quicker are cynics.
Which after some thinking about it is kinda true as well.
But even if we read trough the interview he gave for
You must be registered to see the links
it seems he wants to deliver the best sex oriented re-playable western JRPG. I don't know if his interest are to help man kind have the best game or simply he wants to have his name/alias under it.
P.S I've edited my previous post to clarify my sources, and that the Spoiler is actually a more human readable long Quote.

A cynical view would be that Eromancer is driven by self interest and greed, and the game is not being worked upon as he can string people along with long 'flashy' updates, and previous talk about making the best porn Western JRPG. Self interest of people wanting the game delivered quicker, is purely self interest in my opinion (not cynicism which is mistrust of others motivations). For those who have sunk money into the game, they are entitled to be disillusioned, the rest are just spectators to what might be the best Western JRPG or a footnote in adult Patreon game making (as one of the first ambitious titles).
Thanks anon. On a side note i'v never saw someone type so much with such little information.
No i am not counting political debates.
Also i wouldn't be surprised if at this point patrons would start fapping to these sample renders
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I still think this thread should be locked Q.Q
Just FYI - other members have just as much right to post here as you do, and now they can do it at least on this thread without having to endure your trolling for a while.
I mean what they've been working on thus far has definitely been impressive but I do agree that most people probably don't care about all those little pieces they've finished up so far. When it all comes together I'm sure we'll appreciate it but I can't even see a date for that within the next year.

Yeah, its definitely impressive (the fluid stuff, the clothing system that they are acting as if it was the second coming when it isnt even dynamic is laughable).
However, is like working on a shooter, having only the models for the weapons done, and expending 6 months showing how you make the bullets shine when you are charging a weapon.
They could have made actual content, and this could have perfectly been added after the fact.
About the date of release of a demo, I think we can all agree that if we dont get anything this year, we probably aint getting shit the next one :FeelsBadMan:
Hello, I just downloaded this. Now that i know that it is a demo, Does it only contain the first area, after the 2º conversation with the robot, next to the door? If not i am stuck and i dont know how to continue. Anye can help if thats the case?
So the renders and the quality look great in the latest images. But everybody with a bit of knowledge about 3d-modeling or texturing should know it doesn't take a year (or even more) to make this considering they are working full time on it, especially not if you have a skill level like this. It's just sad their goal is making as much money as possible with this instead of releasing versions for their patreons from time to time.

Its really obvious they havent been doing shit until this year as you say. It looks good, sure, but they could have finished the game in the time they have taken to show any advance at all.
Also I have to insist that everything they are showing could easily be added as the game is being developed, except for the model edits that, once again, shouldnt be taking them months to finish.
Actually, assuming they started working on it when they started showing new stuff, it doesnt even take that time to get to the point they are now in.
