Just guessing, but A) which one are you playing: Chapter 5 aka the main one aka the "new" stuff or Chapters 1-4 aka previous version aka the one under spoiler on the 1st page? B) which one is your save from?

if that's not it I'm out of ideas. Best of luck and glad you like the game.

If the global file doesn't know there's a save in a particular slot, it won't show it to you. Save into your backup save slot and copy the backup back into the folder, or rename the backup save to something that's already been saved to and overwrite it / move the old save out and the backup in.

Just found this game. Looks pretty interesting!

How much tentacle content is there?

Stealth Combat Prototype/Animation Test

The time has come and so have I.

Abyss of Temptations now runs on a new (updated) engine, has a completely different combat system more focused on Stealth (for now) with 100% less lags and has an entirely new skeletal animation backend. And to see if these things are working nicely together I am releasing another game prototype, focused on aformentioned features.

From you all, graceful fans and players I reqire:
  • feedback on how the new Stealth system feels, easy-hard, complicated-simple and so on.
  • feedback on the animation quality and game lag during it.
  • tell me if it's worth animating CG scenes in general
  • feedback on overall game performance/strange behaviors/bugs

I tried it out. I didn't play all the way to the end, but it was clear to me how the system worked. I thought the stealth system was a bit difficult to get used to, but pretty easy once you leanred to recognize the patterns in the guards' movements. It al turned out to be pretty intuitive. The hardest part for me was getting used to using movement arrows again.

All ran very smoothly on a fairly high-end machine.

I know a lot of people like animations, but I'd prefer more CGI than animations. Animations don't seem to me to be worth the time and effort spent away from other development.

I noted no bugs. The game was fun, for the most part, but got repetitive and so I stopped. Maybe a bit of this in the game would work out really well, but more than a half-dozen or so guards is overkill.

GL with this. I've always enjoyed what you've done with this game. I like the new name, as well.

WASD is also available as a control option, as well as "NumPad" buttons. No mouse controls because they break a lot of scripting work sadly.

I got relatively skilled with animation software on my main job and was curious to see if people like it. It does require more time and effort from me, but I see it as a way to hone my skill and a way to add more value to the game. And if I go with animating CGs, static images would still be an option for people who are into that or have low-end PCs.

It is an overkill solely because that's what I want people to toy around with at the moment, to see if anything breaks. The final game will involve similar stages but spaced out and separated by other gameplay sections and story moments. And if you manage to chew through guards at a later date I would be curious to hear your opinion on the animation.

And thank you for your kind words, having a small but passionate fanbase is what motivetes me to move forward despite all complications. Nice to see people being excited for my work.

Combat/Animation Test Update
Just a minor update to the prototype, fixing a few bugs, most importantly preventing the nasty "pixelization" scaling bug that appeared if you changed default screen size and/or resolution in main menu or during animation.

Also for the sake of testing, interacting with this graffiti activates the animation part without the need of completing the combat ground.

I definitely vote not to have a graphics overhaul that delays release. Content is more important than graphics, and the content changes sound very much like what I would ask for.
agreed graphic overhauls have broken more than a few games develompments.

Sadly, I have bad news for you all. I never said much about my real life, but at the moment I'm being drafted to join the war you all know about. Yeah, that one. Tomorrow I'm leaving. I'm closing my Patreon page for the time being, because I'm not even sure I'll return back alive. I sure hope that I'll be able to come back home one day and give my beloved project all the passion I have. I am very sorry for not finishing the game, but sadly I'm no longer in control of my life. I sincerely hope to return to you all one day, but from now on I'll be out of reach. Stay safe out there. Value what you have in life. Sincerely yours and wishing you the best, Cactus.

Cactus, I hope you are around to read this message, because I feel for you. If you could resist the insanity, I'm sure that you would, but you can't. I can only hope that you come through this okay, and that Russia loses this war in the most gentle way (for its people) and worst way (for its leaders) possible. War always sucks. War for all the wrong reasons sucks even harder.

hurts to hear that, man. I hope you come back safe and sound.

well, all links down except mega. can someone upload it somewhere? I cant use mega anymore cause I've exceeded the download quota.
Just wait till tomorrow, your download quota will reset, the download should tell you to either update to a paid account for more downloads, or wait a certain time, and it should tell you how long that is, usually about 5-6 hours for me when it says that. If you just leave the various pop ups that mega produces open, it should sooner or later just finish anyway.
