It's a nice game but I think I'm done as none of my saves have transferred without having to jump through hoops. Sorry dev but it shouldn't be this complicated... nice models nice story or game, but the save issues for every update just seems to be an on going trend. Hopefully at some point in the future you will just release a full version download to make it easier on the players. Good Luck.
Little problem here...my gaming PC is out of order because the GPU died after the prices exploded.
I could copy the save folder from the external drive i have week 1 & 2 - ofc all incompatible
I even managed to make my internal C:\ external to copy both maousama folders from appdata/roaming/renpy to this PC in the same folder, but the game still says there is nothing to import.
Since week3 needs week2 and week2 needs week1 i prefer a hint what to do now instead of playing it completely from the beginning again...so hyped up happy after seeing the update and now nothing but chaos -,-
Entirely agree. Just give one big download. Saves all the crap. Your system does not work.
Maou-Sama Week 1 & 2 are totally independent games.
i simply don't see the point in trying to use save files of these games.
you could also use Deadlocked save files and would get the same result.
no content of Week 1 or 2 is part of Week 3, so what do you expect to happen when using a save file that tries to continue at a point that's simply not there.
i don't show them as incompatible just for the laughs.
and if a forced export of the game progress at one game's end to start the next one in the series is too complicated for you, maybe start with a short kinetic novel that requires no user interaction at all.
although all you really need to do is to name this export file or not (i know these choices...) and then select it from a list.

so no way to try week 3 without a week 2 save? gave up on game on week 2 when dev purged our saves, but thought I would check the progress, but reading comments I must now replay week 1 and then week 2, just to test 5 min of week 3? :O

no save file ever worked or will ever work cross-weeks.
at the end of each week the outcome of the current playthrough is stored in one separate file per week.
you find these in %appdata%\renpy\persistent.
unless you delete the files you don't have to replay anything once you've completed a week.
of cause you can make different playthroughs with different choices and create new entries in these files.
using a reasonable name when saving helps to keep track of them in the import list of the following week.

If I start week 3, it say tht I need week 2, if I open week2, it say saves are incompatible, if I clear everything, I should start from week 1. Too boring re-play hours of game just to see an update, I will abandon the game. I think a developer should think to this issues: it's a waste of time make a so big work and don't take care to basilar user experience...

Im a bit confused as of the censor patch. I assume that I have to unzip the patch, I did it with 7z and got this answer when I start:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:

On the other hand where I can find a hint whether I have the censored version or not, as the scence are quite open in the original version. Someone a clue? Thanks

I tried to import saved data it just didn't show up. I also tried to copy my save file from week 2 and put in the save folder of week 3. Tried to load it says incompatible. So yeah I don't see why we can't just start a story/game why do we have to have a save file... every other game/vn out there you just download current version and your save file is there even if it's only an auto save. I don't understand this convuluded set up... so yeah I won't continue unless the issue gets addressed and fixed.

Yes, next time the dev should make a kinetic novel, better have no choices and no more split and compress, if we get at the end a 30gb game, no one cares.
Its realy hard to play week 1 with patches, let the game save your progress at the end of day 7, start week 2 with patches and play to the end and again, let the game save and name your progress and use this in week 3 patched.
Yes, thats realy hard and confusing for everyone.

Never had any issues loading new versions of the game, it's the same process every update

I don't think so. Not if everyone read the opening post.
Actually all that needs to be done is playing the first part, making an automatic save at its end, choosing this automatic save when playing the second part, making an automatic save again at its end and choosing this when playing the third part. Or in short: play, save, play, save, play. Don't think that's too hard actually. ;)

but the question is, where the hell does it export the save to?!? cuz week3 isn't finding week2's final supposedly exported save.

so i copied week2's saves into the save dir for week3, all are incompatible, so where the fuck is this supposedly exported save that's supposed to be compatible hidden at?!?

ugh, the week1 info on how to import left out, click start then it will ask for import.

saves are usually located in the /game/saves directory, as well as C:/Users/yourusername/Appdata/roaming/RenPy/name-of-the-game

Well lucky you. If thats how programming went there would hardly be a need for testing, but sadly not all systems work the same. I don't mess with where the stuff is saved but the game never finds the save data. TBH the frustrating part is the dev spends more time on the start screen than the game.

The writing in this one is abysmal. It’s hard to understand or even care what is going on with the plot. Sex scenes are dull and short. In all honesty, I did not even finish week one. I’ve had more fun watching paint dry. Many of the models are strange looking. Postures and facial expressions are often unnatural, exaggerated, or just look weird. The entire game experience if off-putting and distracting.

Wouldn't simulating a save before the start of every week be a better solution, than requiring previous saves??
Not really, the contents of the saves will depend on your choices and routes during each week, which will affect what happens in the story as you go along. Pre-simulating a save would assume you made certain choices etc in the prior week, which if you have made different decisions to follow a certain path, it would not match up with what you'd done in the previous week of the game (nor for many other players).
So it's better to have the information of your prior choices/path, than forcing them on everyone who may have made different ones.

week 3 was like 5 minutes long. it had no sex. text is hard to read because of the font. not that i care too much about the plot - there is too much of it. I just click through it to get to the girls. i would say don't bother downloading this latest release.
