Just started playing around with the game, and I really like how much exploration and experimentation is involved.

One of the things I got to doing, once I had a good enough team, was "farming" the local bandits. Making about 2000 per fight from knocking them out is the best income I can find early on, and I'm wondering.. is it possible to "depopulate" the game?

I'm almost out of the local bandits, which is fine, but it'll be a bummer if I eventually kill everyone on all these maps (judging by a lot of the mechanics, the game seems designed to be played over the course of years worth of turns). Is there anything that adds new enemies over time?

Yeah, while some enemy encounters are unique, there are plenty of other generic bandits that will steadily regenerate over time, one of the big factors that affect this is the Republics Control, the higher control is, the slower bandits respawn as the government has better grip on public order. Control gets raised by some bandit groups being taken out, as well as some random events, so if you consistently hunt bandits all the time you may find control creeping up, slowing the rate bandits respawn.

At really low levels of control you can get events where entire districts are overrun, this can be inconvenient as bandits will be at the edges of the district extorting tolls out of you if you are not able to fight them (although a decently equipped party can deal with them easily enough) but it also provides ample opportunity for a slave hunter like yourself.

Now, for keeping control low. There are a few things you can do, once you are set up a bit more and recruited a certain character you can set up your own newspaper this has several settings dictating what kind of rhetoric your paper spreads, some of these reduce control, otherwise you can find the bandit faction to donate to them, and in doing so lowering control.

If you are after a consistent source of slaves which isn't dependent on control, your best bet is normally the bounties you can get from town hall, anybody in those fights who isn't the bounty target can be captured.

Thanks for the thorough reply, I'll keep an eye out for all of those options!

The Secret Garden quest used to have a bug that prevented it from starting:

If you chose the Skillbooks trait at character creation, you would already have the Paine II book at game start. Therefore you couldn't inspect it at the Secret Garden Bookstore. Therefore $sawbook would always remain false, preventing the quest from starting.

Is the bug still there?

What is happening here?

Loren's Affection is Undying (and afterwards still is). I am still increasing here affection constantly but this seems to be a huge overcorrection. Do characters have traits that I cant see (yet)? None of her traits could cause this (except for maybe Nympho but that affects Happiness not Affection. And also she is getting plenty. :D )
This happens every few days apart and seems to increase in impact.

There's a hard cap for affection. If she's still Undying then it's just her resetting back to that cap at the end of the day

You're just going over the cap on affection, so you get reset back down to the cap.

Hmm okay...
as a small caveat I want to point out that this only happens like every week or so. Not at the end of every day. But that could mean that the check only happens every week.

But!
Im increasing Alice's (the girl you can choose the name of between nine options at some point) affection beyond undying too. And there doesnt appear to be any correction going on there.

IIRC, Undying starts at 120, and the cap is 130 (maybe 140?), so there is some wiggle room there.
No idea why it's inconsistent for you (at least not without knowing what exactly you are doing each day) but it should be doing the check every day.
Edit: Also keep in mind that normal sex caps affection gains at Loving (as in it just stops giving affection from orgasms), while bondage doesn't have that cap, so if you're only doing bondage once a week that could explain why

I'll admit I havent kept track of Alice's affection much. What I can say is that her increase in affection is due to daily compliments during the morning blowjob and complimenting her intelligence. Im a charming, attractive and old bastard while she is having Daddy Issues so both actions succeed pretty regularly. It might be possible that she simply hasnt reached the hard cap beyond Undying and the correction hasnt started yet. But on the other hand I already have her for 50 days...
I'll keep an eye on her (of course I do :D )

WARNING! Incompatible save! PLEASE USE AN OLDER VERSION (0.8.3.3) OF MOR TO PATCH YOUR SAVE
Does the dev lurk here?
Protip: If you ever need to make save compatibility patches, do NOT remove them a few updates down the line. Leave all the cumulative save patching code in all releases. Maintaining backwards compatibility is a part of your life now.
Or at least maintain an archive of downloads for old versions.

This is html only for 0.8.3h (Public) but it works last I checked to patch a game. Copy out your current 0.8.3.9 html file. Extract this. Put this html file in that 0.8.3.9 folder. Patch your save file. Save to disk again. Return the 0.8.3.9. Play 0.8.3.9 and load from disk.
