Oh gosh, what a lot of posts.
Only a little ways in, but so far really impressed with the game. The number of options in combat was a little overwhelming at first, but I've been enjoying the strategic depth since getting used to what each option does. The writing is also a treat, and the self-aware AI theme is really interesting sci-fi.
Cool that this is a reusable engine, cause the core interface is solid as well.
Thrilled that you enjoyed it! The combat system is something I've added to and refined over iterations of the framework, so I'm glad it clicks!
This is a really good game. Only played for a couple of minutes and already love it
♥
wow I loved flesh cavern. I even created a word document just to look at some very hot scene without the "gameplay" before and with pictures added for the immersion.
Hah, I'm still surprised people like it so much, but that's sweet. ♥
Played it to the end and got the Good ending after doing as many sidequests as I could. While the combat system became a little repetitive by the end (at some point you just end up wanting to walk around the room without getting jumped by something that will at best die in three hits), I think it was overally really great and well written actually, would try to expound on my feelings more but I'll be honest I gave this thing three goes and my brain's a little frazzled at the moment, I need to drink something.
Overall though thanks for making this! Will recommend it to my friends.
Definitely a valid issue with this game specifically, though I will point out that you have control over the Encounter Rate in the settings. Once you hit max level, you can always just turn it down to 0! I included those options with full intention of people using them as they desire. As for your question, answereda couple of posts above mine! But,
Great game, reminds me of CoC and TiTS. The NPCs are distinct and I had fun going through all of their dialogue options. The lore was interesting enough, with the different corpos and slang. The combat was simple and effective, though it did get repetitive so I turned down the random encounters.
-- As kabixe here did! I'm hoping that future projects with more varied locations (ie, not one big hostile 'superdungeon' will help alleviate that repetition, along with a greater variety of weaponry and classes. As for CoC and TiTS, my main goal with my games is to (hopefully) avoid their shadow by offering a different experience - set protagonists with much higher detail in scenes, afforded by not having to juggle quite so many customization variables. I've long since held that trying to outdo CoC and TiTS, especially as a solo dev, is putting ludicrous expecations on yourself.

So, by the description of Mio, she kinda looks like a Mega Man robot? Just with a curvy fleshy Torso/hip?
Whatever you draw from the description is how she looks! The joy of text games. But a gynoid torso flanked by aging, clunky metal limbs is the general vibe.
Me, playing Fenoxo games since FoE: Make it less than 2 hours
Heh. I did originally have a thing up there saying 'this will heavily depend on experience and reading speed', but that's apparently not valid info to include in a time estimate on this forum.
Mio is absolutely adorable, really sets the tone, and makes you care about the world. Probably my favorite gynoid now.
I am less sure about the "6-8 hours playtime" if you read the descriptions, do the side-quests, and engage with the crafting system, but maybe that's not a bad thing. I don't know when I'll have time to finish this, but take $20.
One tiny point of order, any chance to add -/+ or numbers to the accessibility options in addition to the slider? When I tried adjusting the font size, the slider's position would jump, making the slider bounce around which was frustrating.
That's very sweet, even before the donation. Thank you very much, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game that much! As for the accessibility options gaining extra control modes - that's a really good idea that I'd like to do, but it might take me a while to implement. Changing options in that specific menu is done through javascript, which I'm still very much learning.
a rare gem for text enjoyers, looking forward to your future works!

What Haillow said!
Do all the fantasize options open if you beat the game?, if not can someone post a save i think i missed a few and cant find em
They do not, no. I want to encourage people to explore everything, not just rush to the end.
Almost full save. Missed one environmental scene, since it's bugged.

Though using someone else's save is totally valid. As mentioned, one Environmental Scene (Trapmaw) is bugged if you dealt with that obstacle using Lift or Handiwork - it's fixed in the next version with a workaround to unlock if you step on the tile it was on, but I haven't uploaded that version yet. A flood of new players means more opportunities to uncover little bugs like this, so I'm holding off a little while until things calm down before posting 1.0.6. That said, there's a fairly major combat bug uncovered today that I'm pretty eager to push the fix for, so possibly today.
Thank you to all who've played MERCANOID. ♥
