there was no Patreon page affiliated with this project or any other monthly/time spanning recurring payments so I really don't agree that there has been any milking at all
What about the patreon page below your avatar, where you also posted news about the game?

who knows what the future holds.... for now we started working on a DLC and improvements to this game (y)

edit:
before anyone is going to bitch about "this gonna take 8 months again"....
the game improvements are top priority and will arrive faster... people just need to make up their mind on what to improve other than "this engine sucks" (y)
I hope the DLC includes having fun with Melvin's Dad :HideThePain: .

You seem to have absolutely no idea, how much time is needed to develop a game like this and especially to make renders with such a high quality. So instead of complaining about how long the development took for "only" 400 very high quality renders, maybe you should at least show a bit of gratitude that you can play this game at all. Because I'm pretty sure you haven't paid a dime for it.

You know Devs of porn games have a life outside of this little digital world ... crazy concept, I know ... but it's true.

What was the point in delaying the release?
We didn't delay the release for shits'n giggles, thats obviously what you suggest with that question
the Steam verfication process was a back and forth of several weeks after our initial release date of 14th Feb was busted by a Steam rejection.

So in order not to have to postpone the next announced date too for whatever reason Steam might throw in our way the decision was made to aim for the Easter Weekend as next release window.

And I don't care if you believe me or not because apparently you know how shit works around here but let me tell you, the final Steam approval came on April 8th.

So say milking one more time and I'll make Serena come over and fist you with the Brofist

debating over the engine choice is very pointless as it will not change anything
we can talk about improving the existing features instead (y)
They're not wrong about skipping speed though. No idea if that's an engine limitation or something you did with the game. Most Ren'py games can skip really quickly. If you can I'd suggest increasing the skip speed. When a player needs to get somewhere they probably want to do it fast.

yes, there is an artificial limit to the speed which can be adjusted in the settings menu to a certain extent.
We simply deemed it fast enough and didn't expect people to want more.... but people always want more so thats certainly something we will improve.

How can you say talking about the engine is useless?
If you want feedback, there you got feedback. The engine you currently use is not good.

You should listen to all feedback and be able to properly discuss and consider it, instead of immediately being upset and shipping the engine you are using hard.

A very great example of engine change is "No More Secrets". It used Unity, it was a horrible Engine for that game. He listened to feedback of players and changed to Ren'py, making the game become way more popular as it has a better and more comfortable engine.

Just my advice. If you want a future as game developer, use a good engine that fits your game.
Your game is a Visual Novel with Choices, so use Ren'py.

Hi PandaPenguin
Really wow !!!
I loved this game, a bit short, but, the 5 main paths with its ramifications are great stories, normally I don't dare to play many games other than RenPy but when I saw this I loved Renders and I must say I was not disappointed. Excellent work, I hope the developer does a sequel or surprises us with something of equal or better quality.
Good look

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
Well, let me try and explain it from a developer point of view, bear in mind I'm not the coder of the game, Panda is, but I'm a coder as well in another game.

Changing engines right now would slow us down a lot, the game is done and shipped, it will receive more content but the core of it is already there, changing it to renpy for example would consist in re-importing everything, setting up branches, setting up renders, portraits, emotions, text and everything else... do you follow? It took us 18 months to get where we are, if we needed to redo everything instead of adding new content, it would take us a long time before any of you guys saw any new content.

So when Panda says that talking about the engine is useless, it's in the objective of saying we won't change it, it's too late for that, but we can improve on it to get it on par of any other option available out there, so feedback is useful, but not one just saying change to renpy.

Panda is already working on increasing text speed, that's because of the feedback from you guys, and that is useful, so if you got complaints of what we can do to improve on what we have, please let us know, that we can and will do, but changing engines is completely out of question for Midnight Ride.

Anyone know how to complete the gallery? I think I'm one scene short and don't know how to get it.

you should read what I wrote... I said debating the choice of engine is pointless
and I also said we can talk about improvements to the engine
thats two different things

so for the last time, there won't be any further discussion about changing engine!
so if your only complain is the skip speed, that's taken care of

and maybe you should ask yourself why you even bother with a VN if you need lightning fast skip speed to not bitch about it.
Perhaps you should just go into the games folder and look at the images instead... and don't come here complaining about the slow skip speed of your image browser next

you know, if you had said "hey, how about the built in replay feature starts at the choice instead of the beginning of that chapter"... that would be feedback we can work on to improve

On the game. Been playing for a while now, and this was pretty damn good.
Storyline was believable, real. Graphics were good. Interface and engine really wasn't bad, as long as it isnt RPGM lol.
But I must say, I really enjoyed it. Nice game man
