I think in general people don't understand how much work goes into these games, especially ones with updates as big as Milfy City. There's a lot of attention-to-detail that has to go into creating the renders we enjoy so much, and there's a diminishing return on how much time you put into it. At a certain point 50% more time only yields 5% more detail, which is where these games separate themselves from the pack.
I think that this falls into the "simple matter of software" fallacy, where most people think "it's just software and it practically writes itself". This is fallacious but some people simply can't be taught.

I think it's amplified here because there's a large contingent of posters that simply don't give a shit and just want to jerk off to rendered b00bs RIGHT NOW.

I understand your point of view. Only thing I have to disagree on, is, that you can't compare a Honey Select asset game (Project Sage) to a fully rendered DAZ3D asset game. Rendering and making those animations takes a ton of time. You just pose the characters in Honey Select Studio and immediately take pictures, and the animations are already there in the Studio from the game itself. That means you have much more time for everything else. And mayba that DMD isn't really a good example there with it's slow pacing. And the author took a break from developing too. But thankfully got back with way better game IMO, which is Melody.
That's true. But. The important thing for me is the output as someone who "supports" the dev. And the ouput is excellent and quite regular. And, the MrDots example is Daz3D and month for month he delivers!

For me personally there are many many very attractive HS models. The backgrounds are low quality that's true. But who the fuck watches a porn game for backgrounds? Hot models, slow build up, kinky situations, this is my thing. And a story without constructed situations which are simply ridiculous.

What I want to say is the mostly all devs who want to deliver excellent renders do deliver excellent renders, but fail in output and therefore in regular updates. To make it short, the relation between the amount of work they put in their renders to the actual viewing times of their audience is really bad. So you have to decide, want excellent renders with details over details which are quite unimportant for a porn game, then you have to wait and cannot expect monthly outputs of 500, 800 or more renders (which would also drive the story forward, much faster with more content in the same time!). Accept lower quality renders (not for the models, which should be still hot) but unneccessary details you have joy every month! The expectations are too high by most of the people.

You have right, but mainly it is about keeping game and graphic up to date. With experiences ICstor have there is not big deal to do detailed render same fast as others do crappy ones, problem comming always when you want to try something new ( new lighting, effects, simulation etc.) because you want to stay up to date. And of course with bigger amount of renders there comes another problem wich name is postprocessing. Repairing flops on renders, enhancing colorst, lighting and others, Mostly each image one by one.

seriusly man ? you mention project sage and not fb monica ... i mean project sage just looks cheap as fuck
I know FBM, but it is much grind which I don't like. It is used to fill up a game with no much use. But Monica is very hot that''s why I still play it :) (Not because of detailed render scenes). But, in Project Sage the model Amy is, for me, extremely hot. And I got nearly every month updates. Much content, many different paths (damn I saw scenes months after the release of a certain version by experementing) and the story moves on. Btw, I do not fap because of detailed backgrounds of a render, but because of the hopefully kinky situation per se with one or more hot female models. :)

You guys keep talking about rendering. His renders are xtra special due to the models first and his superior use of Photoshop in my opinion. A lot of soft focus plugins are used

Honestly? Thats a way too pessimistic estimate.
I simply don't know the estimate ratio between the $1 patrons and the $10+ patrons. I initially thought he could be making 1M+, but then that would be assuming that there are only very small number of $1 patrons.

Hmm my guess is about 360 000 /Year. Not bad, I think.
That's definitely good amount of money. If he can keep up the good work, it's definitely paying off for him.

Mostly devs have about 5usd per patreon he can have slighthly more maybe 8. I was calculating with 5.
