Can you provide any evidence that he's still working on the game ?
Absence of proof is not proof of absence. I get that you are distraught over the game is ''
delayed indefinitely'', but you are grown up enough to know that me saying I am
absolutely going to punch ypu in the face at some point is not the same as you walking around with a broken nose.
The dev was one of the pioneers of this form and quality of game. They are likely burned out on it, or want to try to explore new stories so they can come back to this one in due time. As a writer, I can understand that. For me, what is inexcusable is leaving a story unfinished. What's happening here is akin to Alexander Dumas stopping his daily updating of
The Three Musketeers saga when it was getting good, or Lucas stopping
Star Wars after
Empire Strikes Back to learn how to paint or whatever. If you didn't have enough gas in the tank to finish it, you should not have started it. Halting the game when your're at 90-percent completion is an inexcusable failure.
I find Inceton's blaming of Patreon insufficient and cowardly; there are other avenues of compensation that he could turn to; its just simply that he's likely painted himself into a corner, plot-wise and doesn't know how to get the story to go in an interesting way. In that case, he should have provided a bit of an end to things; have him choose one of the women and sort it out.
But he didn't. And now, he wants us all to be super-excited about another game. Or Project X. Or whatever.
I think I am going to need a fuckton of assurances that whatever game he's tooling with now is going to be taken to completion. Because I invested in his product, and have him shrug off it with cheap, Swiss cheese excuses doesn't inspire confidence.
