They do. Saves from v.071 do not work in 1.0. Saves from 1.0b work in 1.0c. And will work in 1.0d, which will soon be released. 1.0c instead of fixing old bugs, introduced dozen of new.

When you save in the game, "appdata" copies are also automatically created.
