I don't mean to crap on people who got taken advantage of, but the comments at that kemono link are PRICELESS! I can't believe he hasn't posted anything BC related since Dec 2021. What a jerk.
As I learned long ago, if a creator seems to be delaying the project you like, don't pay them until you see results!
Some artists are actual "tortured souls" and all but others are just scumbags. I paid an artist to do a three picture set one time (which he delivered). But when I said I could afford to add another pic to the set he told me no because he was "sick and tired of drawing the characters." Like damn! Sorry to bother you by giving you my money! Couldn't you just have said, "sorry I'm busy, maybe next time" or something? Never contacted him again that's for sure!
Now some artists need to change it up or take breaks for creativities sake. I get that. But they should also have a little compassion for their audience. Look at Nyl. He's delayed the Gorgon animation for awhile but he let patrons know it was on hold pretty early on. And it's not like he hasn't created a lot of content in other areas since then. And if you message him about anything, he seems very dry but is overall professional and cordial. That's the way artists should be with their audience.
Sorry for the rant fellas, but artists conning their audience is something that I take very personal.
