UI hopefully gets better
I've done some changes, more transparent dialog and quick menu back in the stock location. Hope to release again this week. Fixed codex errors, revised dialog added a few scenes and deleted others. EP2 on track fr release by weekend.

It's taken longer than I expected due to covid (again).

We are 35% through art production for episode 3, and code and dialog are 15%. The planned release date is late February or early March. We will try to get some teasers out this week. Well my first take on this title...GET RID of that huge ass quick menu, the one that is located at bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Also there are actually two quick menu's with this title...the standard small text version which is located at the bottom of the screen, and the huge one to the right. And the image below shows the huge ass one is just screen clutter, and this title would look much better if it was removed or made hidden in the settings.

I've seen this horrible UI a few times before, and every time that huge quick menu it's not removable...because it's hard coded some where else in the script from the norm location. Also, I normally use a Universal Quick Menu mod, which this mod can hide the quick with a single key stroke (Q key). But it wont remove the huge quick menu when using the mod, it only works on the small QM. And an FYI, most computer users don't use the QM, we can right click and we have everything a QM offers.

Here is an example image below displaying a custom dark bottom textbox, along with the (small) quick menu hidden using the Universal Quick Menu mod. (And normally using the Q key would hide or display the QM, but with this type of interface it's assigned the Q key to another feature (instead of being an unassigned key).

There isn't anything wrong with the story, I really dislike the Ren'Py interface used...and I hope some changes can happen in the next update that will allow the user to hide the large QM.

I can't play games with that stupid custom UI. It's a nice design, but that's all.

Biggest issue is when right clicking. The main and most common reason a user right clicks during game play is save the game, yet it's behind another menu. Not only that, we can't skip transitions, so for every save you have to wait for the animation to finish before seeing the menus. Horrible and annoying UX.

I have had this occur occasionally when speedrunning the game or rolling forward and backward constantly. Playing the game 'normally' ie; not speedrunning or rolling forward and backward excessively will prevent this error from happening. I will make note of the exception, but I consider it an edge case that occurs only under these conditions.

What I mean is I have peripheral neuropothy or how ever you spell it. I body jumps a lot

I was ok with the inability to use the UI to lower the chatbox opacity, that was annoying but survivable to me, but the MC insisting that Hawain Pizza is the best, sorry, gotta drop the game because the dev not only has poor taste, but makes me hate playing the MC with that poor taste. I'm in the country that invented that vile creation, and I am constantly apologizing for that and Jim Carey.

Seriously though, add something to change that chatbox opactity, the grey cloudy effect just messes with my ability to read it with glasses on or off, and please put back the ability to hit preferences right from the game screen, rather than russian nesting dolling it behind extra clicks. No one has ever complained about not being able to see half the options in bold taking away screen space, so the original Renpy ones small and at the bottom tend to work best.

Just wanted to point out that you can multi-quote several posts in the same answer, so you don't have to do this flood of posts. Especially since you are repeating the same answer over and over.

There's something called a public release that is made by the Dev. Maybe you should consider that, since the fixes are substantial and relevant to the enjoyment of this title. Waiting for a potential "leak" is just a measure of the interest that there is for your title, judging for the lack of interest so far, maybe it is something you should look into. I'm no telling you that you have to do it, nor am I telling you that it must be done, just mentioning it as an option to recover some good will after all the criticism.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know that was an option.

Most of the criticisms and comments were for two specific issues that have been addressed in the new release 0.01.4.

I am the dev of the game. I am not leaking my own game. If someone else does then so be it.

It is a very common practice.

The 2 games I have on my signature, for examples, have tiered releases. After they reach the last tier, the dev themselves publish it here. There are MANY more that do the same.

Your choice tho. It is JUST a recommendation from my part. Since all the cases that I know of dev's doing the same led to a very positive outcome in terms of game acceptance and that reflects in patronage and sales... believe me, I just want to help.

Thanks for the advice, I will consider it. The last chapter release is far down the road, I've just released the second episode. I am also targeting a Steam early experience release in April.
