I'd be a bit fed up if I spent the time and effort to write a story/make a game with a credible & reasonably complex story, that had lewd scenes as part of the story's & characters' developments & someone labelled it "porn".
Something which doesn't even need a story, or a plot, just 2 people rutting in front of a mobile phone's camera.
Wouldn't be too happy to have my hard work compared to, or labelled as, that.
I do not consider that to be snobbery. I consider that to be perfectly just.
Porn is something which has the sole purpose of getting your dick hard. Shit, a bouncing pair of tits, a jiggling ass, or a camel toe in yoga outfit can do that.
Some of these games have far more to them & are far deeper, more intelligent, than that.

This reminds me of something I read about Shortbus today. The director actually wanted to de-eroticize sex. The sex you see in the film is awkward and mundane. Like life. For the most part, that was very true. In some ways, it makes fun of porn because porn shoots work to be so perfectly staged. Much like the blowjob in Brown Bunny. Very desperate and not very erotic (other than it being done by Chloë Sevigny). Very true. I have a "soft spot" for unbridled breasts in a loose top. Seeing them move naturally... Sometimes titillations and hints/suggestions of nudity can do more than nudity, especially if you've been to naturist environments.

I think that porn is often a derisory term, in film-making & publishing, for precisely that reason.
I works on a base instinct. It does not need to stimulate the mind, just the groin, which is simple & easy.
Anything which also works on an intellectual level is, therefore, automatically placed above porn.

I agree with what you're saying, and gave you a like. But I'd like to add that it's not so simple and easy to be erotic. It really is a talent. Some of my girlfriends had it, some didn't. There is an artistry in seduction. I'd say the same thing is true of porn. Much of it is just . . . blah. But some of it is truly erotic.
That is, there's a difference between porn and erotica.
There's definitely a certain kind of smarts required in sexual seduction.

I know the guy who first coined "sapiosexual*" decades ago. It was set up merely meaning "needing to connect with a person on an intellectual level (interests, conversational abilities) before feeling arousal for them.
