Figured out the resolution issue. For some reason it's set to a real tiny type, but if you can get to the config section and arrow key to the resolution bar under the second checkbox, use enter to access and select the next option. That'll make things clearer. didn't bother trying to find the file, but it's possible, just really difficult.
