Which one, there are three, the first battle is available after beating Ancilla, the second i'm not sure, it's either on getting to or beating the will power temple, the third becomes available after getting the true willpower sigil (beat Oni sisters together on hard)
Sophia is one of the harder fights in the game for sure, Sophia's 3rd fight is the hardest IMO, that said while she is damn strong and while she has no explicit weakness there are ways to get around her that apply to all of the fights.
Firstly lets tackle that lack of a weakness, she is resistant to most attack types, she is not resistant to breast oriented attacks which, relatively speaking, makes that her weakness, or at least the attack type that is most effective to use on her. As such all breast oriented skills are a good bet, i prefer breast fondle but that is because i run a more allure oriented build. All of the perks that boost damage to breasts are therefore a good bet, even Vivian's breast lover perk will increase your damage by 25%, since this would stack with the other "anti breast" perks you can really up the damage that way, also breast fetish increases your damage both from and to breasts, so since Sophia doesn't go for direct contact or really very much in the way of breast attacks till the third fight you can get away with not resetting your breast fetish for this fight, in fact a moderate breast fetish could be beneficial.
Also using this method is helped a lot with the perk "touch of ecstasy" that you can get from Sophia, of course it means you can't use it in the first fight and you take more damage in general but IMO it's worth it for these fights since it gives you +10 base damage and +25% damage for foreplay, massive buff and along with the breast offence method she takes a shed load of damage quite quickly.
Speaking of damage, use the demon layer, only once or twice, otherwise she'll end the fight with a unique scene, but since it does so much damage to her it's worth noting that you can slap her with it early to no ill effect and just make the fight a little easier.
All standard boss fight prep applies of course, go in at 100%, bring a bag of curatives including status cures like insomnia potions, ugli herbs and if your pockets are deep panacea(most useful in the third fight where you'll need to deal with trance). Use the food bonus from the inn, perhaps consider a temp blessing from the church, set your gear up specifically for her(willpower helps a lot), fix your sensitivity and especially your kiss fetish for the first fight.
General character improvement/grinding helps too, getting more points in willpower will help you last in the fight and either power or allure will help you increase your damage. Increasing spirit helps a bunch too, the nymph's blessing helps for that as do the relevant perks (spiritual ocean ect.)
Finally remember that Sophia is an optional fight, there is no harm in leaving her for later, if this is your first time fighting her just leave her for after the mountain, bank some perks and levels and come back, she's not going anywhere.
You know I really like this game and its characters as monstergirls are one of my favorite archetypes of porn. You are not only given a large cast of different personalities and monstergirls but the writing for them is very solid as well, and I'd have to say this is one of my favorite text based games on the site.
That all being said..... Unpopular opinion incoming but even after Kotone's rewrite she comes off as the worst character in this entire series so far. Honestly can't even bring myself to like her even though my favorite type of monstergirls are the floofy ones. I only even did her quests was just because I like Feng and assume that I have to progress Kotone's quest to complete Feng's story.

Kotone's path, until she apologizes, is strangely dark compared to the happy-go-lucky everything else, but thankfully she does apologize (even if she still says she was doing it because she wanted to, so she's really only apologizing for your sake or to not get in trouble, not because she isn't a terrible person who wanted to turn you into her literal slave). So I think its fine in the end. If she didn't do that, or they add girls who go full grimdark literal sex slave, I'll be pretty disappointed. The relatively wholesome nature of the girls here is a large part of why I like it.
Same with the manticore, who also makes it 'okay' in the end by apologizing for being a needlessly massive bitch for no more reason than 'was horny lol'

my mehod to deal with sofia : endure + numb self + moxie (the thing that increase allure for allure based recoil) --> get hit by the hypnotic fascination (the one that makes you penetrate her) --> spam MOREEEEEEEEEE (she gets recoil from that, usually 40 or so and I get 5 dmg, good trade since I can loop it as much as I want in a turn).
In general people disregard buffs, but you can really get to retard stats if you stack them (the crit buff is great too with attacks with high crit damage)

Looking at the wiki there are a handful of requirements you need to meet to get a romance with the manticore. I'm pretty sure I've done them all but when I get addicted to her she says she isn't ready yet and won't trigger the romance. Is there some way I can get a clue to what I haven't done yet?
you have to say that you love her. any other anwser leads too the detox (had that problem too)
For me I find the 'trow net lol' ability is pretty overpowered. Most girls simply won't escape it, ever.

I've only beaten her in combat once, by vaginal orgasm, maybe I should just beat her a few more times. It's the only thing I can think of, since I've definitely talked through all her dialgoue and met her in the brothel a few times.

I honestly couldn't say when the next piece of hypnosis content or some type of addiction will be coming. Venefica will have another her relationship content expansion in either the upcoming update or the next, so she could have another addiction to go along with what she already offers. Other than that, perhaps the Labyrinth will have a character with hypnosis given the idea for the third character was nebulous in concept and they may ultimately be some sort of mage type, so perhaps she'll have mental domination spells akin to hypnosis. The fourth one is also a complete mystery, so no telling what she may cater to.
Apologies that I am unable to shed more light on this subject at the moment.
As for this one, perhaps I should have been a little clearer in my last response. Double-checking the code just to be certain, Venefica currently does not have any scenes dependent upon Rut itself. Rut does increase Virility however, so that increase in Virility can unlock options that may not have been available before which for Venefica just means potentially increasing the quality and grade of your semen for her "familiar" scenes when you are her milking pet.

Other than attempting to respec at the Guild and trying out a new build, and since you do not want to cheat, then you need to select efficient farming options for your current power. Pre-Forest Dungeon, running quests to farm Nicci can be an effective early game option. Once you clear the Forest Dungeon and have built up your relationship with Ancilla where you can make use of her relaxation services and rest in bed, you can start farming Ancilla if you can defeat her reliably and relax with her to heal between attempts as necessary. Nara used to be a more effective option when returning to Town immediately healed you, but can still be serviceable if you can defeat her every time without too much effort, you can sell her drops for more Eros and sleep at the Inn to heal between attempts.
Once you're up to the Oni Twins, you can either try farming a single Oni, Jora, or running through Vili's dungeon, the latter two are also a good source of Silver Runes if you need them to pay Amber for upgrades to your sex toys. Then if you are able to defeat the Twins together, you can instead either try to keep running their dual fight or to speed things up a little and remove a few elements of chance from the hardmode fight, you can then start farming a single powered-up Oni. In any case, the Oni Twins are an effective farm due to having a healing circle right next to them that you can use to save a little time and heal up, at least until you need to sleep in a bed and recharge it, at which time you need to either return to Town or cuddle and sleep with one of your potential lovers in the Temple.
If farming the powered up Oni or the Twins together becomes easy, then you're ready for the current high-tier grind against Sofia where you just farm the strongest fight you can handle to level up relatively quickly. To add on to this, you can speed up the process by using experience boosting gear, although be certain you can win without your usual gear and despite the drawbacks of said training gear like the

Rapahel already provided a basic answer, so thank you very much for that. But yes, Tabitha the Batgirl can be found in the Caverns. During the initial run, the event to meet her should technically be unavoidable. The Caverns will become dark as there are no glowing crystals in her area and you'll hear audible wet crunches, she's a fruit bat-girl and loves fresh juicy fruit. You'll have options like "Head off the path to check the sound's origin...", which is what you need to select to meet Tabitha.
If you have already completed the initial Caverns run and missed her, the event you need to select is the "Echoing Cave Chamber." Her Hypnosis content is more along the lines of suggestion as you'll see certain response options repeat for some of her scenes where she is influencing you, but also leaves you an out in the event you do not want to indulge. Tabitha wants to become a Hypno Dom Mistress but she has a notable submissive streak and would also be fine with being a sub who encourages her dom with hypnotic suggestions instead. Your interactions can raise her submission to make the sub option more appealing, raise her confidence so she'll desire pursing the path of the Night Mistress more, or you can raise both and make her your switch. Her sub, dom, and switch end states are not implemented as of yet, right now is just the intro to her romantic content. She stutters at the moment, but she'll lose that once she becomes comfortable as a sub or sure of herself as a dominant.

CGs are the last item slated on the art front. Kotone was a bit special in that she received some temptation CGs to accompany her content. Kotone is also not the norm for the amount of CGs to be expected for a character given that all of the art is commissioned, but major characters like her and probably Sofia would see art at heightened levels at the very least. The art priority is character sprites, then probably background CGs, and then finally erotic CGs.
While disappointing, I do hope that this sheds a little light on the subject, marut.

Yes, you can navigate to your MGD installation folder, then the game folder, and then the images folder. You can then replace the town.png file and townNight.png files with your choice of background images. It would probably help if the images were of the same dimensions and that they are also PNG files. The art is an admittedly slow process for what was originally a purely text based game, but background CGs are finally starting to come together as the Mystic Forest and now the Caverns have their CGs.

Volta has provided quite a detailed response, so thank you very much for that. Advice for Sofia is quite dependent upon your build beyond generic advice. Sofia only has one true weakness and that is Holy damage. Other than that, either going for her breasts as Volta mentioned, using magic, or using seduction are the only truly safe and effective options. Pain is worthless against her as she has 99% resistance to that damage type along with 85% resistance to both Anal and Sex based attacks. While she is also neutral to Mouth based attacks, Kissing her is suicidal given the attacks she'll use. Recoil focused tank builds can power through kissing, anal, and sex with her, but those are incredibly niche. You could always try to restrain her, then buff up, and then hit her with your most effective Breast, Magic, or Seduction skills as well as try to chain restraints to limit how often she can attack you.
If you are a mage type with high enough Intelligence to learn the Sleep spell and also have the Demon Layer, then you can actually cheese her first two fights quite easily. Normally, Sofia will nuke you if you use the Demon Layer on her three times if you fail to defeat her with the third strike, and she'll instantly defeat you in a similar method if you pat her head during the first two fights or during the first stage of her third fight, but if you successfully put her to sleep using the sleep spell, you can strike her as many times with the Demon Layer as you wish while she slumbers as she will not be aware of what you're attacking her with.
This strategy fails on the third fight as she'll become a little serious during the second phase of the fight and her weakness to sleep effects will instead become an outright immunity. The second phase of the third fight also features no limit on Demon Layer strikes, but as Sofia is actually putting in a little effort, she'll try to dodge strikes with the Demon Layer instead. Awoken Sofia is also almost immune to all status effects beyond just having a 25% resistance to Restraints and a 10% resistance to Debuffs. Her resistance to Sex and Anal also increases from 85% to 90%.

I can't check the exact wording, despite having 2 saves from this part of the game, because for some reason loading either and picking any option just makes it say ''Feng's room broke!'' and throw up an error on going to the world map. In multiple versions of the game, even. Only this event does this.
Either way, she apologizes in the end, so I ain't really got an issue with it. I don't love or hate her (my love is exclusively owned by my wife Amy), she's just like... okay. Clearly a lot of effort went into her compared to most of the characters in this.
What I want to actually be changed in that entire area is being able to actually just pick her, the bull girl, etc, from a list. And teleport to them. Even with ninja's, random encounters off, its like 7-8 areas to reach the end of either path to see the ice girl/feng.

Yeah quick movement around the temple is pretty well requested, I'll prolly be looking into that at some point.
Getting to those places wont be too hard, but jumping back would be unless I made a differently structured version or something.

Getting back was already done right with the ice chick; she just carries you back in one action. Until 'bed-chan' intervenes anyways, then if you try that, she'll stop in that room every time. Making travel actively worse than it was before.
