Ohhh thanks sooo much for your invaluable input! How helpful that a freeloader is concerned about abandonment of game which can be played for free on a pirate site! Let patreons worry about that. Have a nice day.

Im actually a patreon subscriber but since there have been no updates since beginning of august this will be my last month of subscribing. Just because i post something on a pirate site doesn't mean i'm not a subscriber so try to get your facts straight before throwing insults around

Wow, being a patreon subscriber, maybe ever thought of checking the dev's twitter page? Or, maybe check Page no. 37 on this thread where i have posted a status update dated 24 September? Maybe it's you who need to get your facts straight, just sayin...:sneaky:

I follow this game on Steam, and it has been updating regularly there. Is there any reason why the updates on Patreon have been abandoned?

Just an (extremely) short update on Episode 3

The release date of Move the Chains is now firm. It will be November 7th. However, progress on the status of Episode 3 has been slower than expected. While it's still early, and I'm working my ass off, I fear I won't hit the deadline for Episode 3 meeting the Steam release. I'm currently writing quite quickly, but I still have 2000 made-render waiting to be rendered + music + graphic assets + postwork + proofreading + editing.

So, while I'm working hard to meet the November 7th deadline, I might not meet it. I won't be pushing the release any further, however. Meaning, it'll be the game as-is. Season 1, Episodes 1 and 2. That all being said, even if I miss the deadline/release for Episode 3, it won't be long until comes. No promises. No hard dates.

I just wanted to post this for the sake of transparency. I'm working at a pace that retains quality, so I won't sacrifice quality for a slightly late update. So, to clarify, the game will be released on the 7th. Just possibly without Episode 3.

Thanks for understanding! :)

- MF.

P.S. This progress update only pertains to the steam launch. If the dev manages to complete episode 3 by November 7th, then he will release episode 3 on both platforms. But if he doesn't then the already released game till episode 2 will be released on steam, and episode 3 on a later date.

in short, there are 50% chances for ep3 to be finished till november 7th and 100% chances for not being inished till that date.
thanks for the update though(y)

Truth, I do not think MissFortune needed to provide a hard release date. Maybe for himself to help reach it own goal, however he had multiple setback for number of reason from few hardware issue to next issue. However what counts is that he provided some kind of progress report and maybe a teaser or few. This AVN work seems to need to take between 6-12 months of progress is he working alone and depends on real life if this AVN is his own part time project.

Have a great day and be safe... (y)

TL;DR: Being a dev is hard and unpredictable, trying predict things is impossible, but it's not for lack of trying. For better or worse, the bulk of the update will be ready for the Steam release. Just with some minor ticks missing (character menu being the biggest), but nearly everything should be in working order.

Just to clarify where I'm at for the sake of transparency:

- Render Prep is 99.9% done. Still have a half-dozen or so, which I may forgo for this update as they aren't important.
- Of the nearly 2200 renders prepped/ready to go, there's 700 or so fully rendered.
- All animations are fully rendered and done. They just need to be imported into a video editor and exported as a webm.
- Writing is currently in-progress. Writing for 2200 renders is going to take a bit, but I feel like I'm making pretty good progress with it. I have no doubt I'll finish with time to spare (and give to proofreaders.)

Where the pause comes in, and is the reason for pushing the date, is the smaller stuff. Adding the achievements (for Steam), the walkthrough (which I'm doing as I'm writing.), postwork, adding and slotting in the music (along with crediting said artists.), and the bigger one being the character menu. For the character menu, I'm thinking of adding it a bit later in a more rounded mid-cycle update that'll hopefully bring some fixes to other lingering issues. Leaving the character menu alone for now, would certainly allow more time to get other things done, and as soon as the update goes out, I'll start working on the mid-cycle update to get those fixes ready.

There's a lot of little stuff to do, and little stuff piles into bigger tasks. Which is only compounded by working a full time job and not being able to afford handing smaller stuff off to someone else. So, there's kind of a balancing act happening of trying to be transparent and get the best product out as quick as possible without overpromising. But being solo with full time work, and the fact that anything can happen at any time (e.g. hardware issues), it's sometimes easy to think about a potential date without thinking about everything else happening in your life.

The beef of the work here is the writing and finding enough music to be able to slot them in without looping too much. Postwork, crediting, achievements, and so forth really shouldn't take all that long by themselves.

So long as the dev doesn't include the aggie yell leaders as characters (since thats where the MC is clearly playing), this is a good one to follow
