TBF it's more the payment processors pushing the crusade so they can operate in countries where certain types of porn are literally illegal, if not all porn... But yea the US is on one of those puritanical downswings unfortunately, and we never seem to be able to tamp down the elements that trigger them... It's a shame this is such a fragmented ecosystem, the only way to make sure we have spaces where we can do what we want is for devs and consumers to both reject spaces we're not welcome.

But unfortunately collective action isn't something people are good at, even when directed--it'd take a real cataclysm for it to happen organically. It looks like we may be on the precipice of one though. I'm only supporting one dev on Patreon and that's cuz I really like what they're doing... everyone else is on SS. People just don't care enough to make sure they give Patreon as little of their money as possible.

Also, as I've said before quite a few times now, they don't even rely on adult dollars anymore. Most of their revenue is from edgy political and video essayist content now. We don't even have the sway to sink them like tumblr or force their hand like OnlyFans anymore.

That’s bullshit.
Everybody knows that's bullshit, but my page has been closed for 3 days. Let's say I lost 10% of my monthly income if they extend every suscription for those 3 days. A small income dev can't file in court for that 10%, even less in another country. I wouldn't even do that if they closed the page indefinitely because I'm sure I would need years of lost income to pay for a decent lawyer in the US.
That's their main weapon. They can close pages with impunity because no one will denounce them.

I am still trying to wrap my head around when Patreon went full moral authority. I used to use Patreon several years ago for a two content creators that I once followed on IdiotTube ( You Tube) but Patreon booted them off for being right of a center. They were not even far right, they are actually classical liberals. Now Patreon has gone full fascist!

If I remember right it was either Parental Love or Dating my Daughter that precipitated all of this. Pretty sure it was PL though, that game was fucking deranged. Could rob the 12 year old daughters boyfriend of all his lunch money and make him suck MC's cock to "turn him gay" so he'd leave MC's daughter alone.

It makes me wonder how feasible a class action lawsuit could be? A bunch of creators, of a bunch of types of content, sharing attorney fees and taking them to court. The line about “where traffic comes from” should be problematic at least. Because you, as a creator, can’t have any real control over that. But I’m not a lawyer.

As far as I know, the only things they don't allow are ... underage characters.
Winter Memories is on Steam. Steam gives no fucks about what's in your game as long as you put the lewd content behind a patch.
Also Trope's been working on getting part 1 ready for a Steam release.

Maybe it's time to look into getting this game onto Steam. It's probably less of a pain than Patreon these days. As far as I know, the only things they don't allow are school settings and underage characters.
Well depends on the school setting. A university like in

is fine but a lot of the games with "colleges" wouldn't pass muster. (Seriously, if your college consists of a single building with an athletic field and a gym as well as being run by a principal with a PTA instead of Deans overseen by a President and a board of trustees You're not a college.) As I said before though I do think you should put this on Steam.

Good news, Patreon page is back online.
Bad news, they now justify their witch hunt.
