So regarding the guide, should I still focus mainly on:
1. Finishing character quests before moving on to anything else?
2. Prioritize school quests?

That guide is from 2yrs+. It is very old in terms of the amount of changes in this game. This leads members to doing the wrong thing/missing important quest. Some even editing via save editing or using a tool without any knowledge or under the assumption that this will fix their issue. When in fact the game just changed and those things are not in the game or used anymore; hence not even an issue. The issues that are indeed "real" bugs, most try to edit with any information they see in the forum or get, unknowingly seeing the bug that it may caused later on. Not everything is a switch or variable.

Regardless, the dev changed many many things, especially the beginning stuff that the guide is not good to use anymore, imo. Unfortunately I'm not going to list them all. Check my compress post for the change-logs to get an idea.

You play this game like this:
1. Make all side quest that open up, your main priority e.g. Sandra & Pam quest-line/individual story opens up.
2. When above happens, STOP Main quest and School Quest. Play until Sandra and Pam quest finishes. Doesn't matter the order of side quest, you can choose to finish Pam before Sandra and vice-versa.
3. When all side quest / individual stories that opens are completed. Then and only then you may continue with Main quest and School quest.

NOTE: Some and only a very few, side quest / individual story would require you to go back and forth with Main or School quest. Do this only when the game tells you to, i.e. BOF (Book of Faces)

Once you did anal scene, this is usual considered the end for them. Unless trying to unlock threesome which may require other steps. No, it also has the other options as well i.e. vaginal+anal
That's a sex button bug. Can only be fix via bug-patch. You can check my profile for link/info to the patch.
I fixed about 80+ bugs.

Guys now that I'm within reach of the end it saddens me to know that I have now probably played all of the actually good ones. I have searched far and wide, from the deepest, darkest depths of the sea to the highest mountaintops. I have found Gems such as Treasure of Nadia and The Genesis Order, tastes delicacies such as Apocalust. But out of all of those this is the penultimate! Story actually adverts expectations at points and the relationships you have with friends and family feel very believable... right up until you start fucking every single women in the city. There are dark turns and emotional moments that I actually felt a little bit which immediately would make me laugh at the idea of me crying with my dick out at a porn game. The incest is mwah, the giant women with asses the size of pillows and tits that belong on a titan. The renders may not be as high quality as NLT's but the combination of the story and the renders is what makes it ascend among them. The story and build up to the scenes already has your imagination brimming with excitement and the renders just bring it to fruition. There is so much content and hidden bits and piece that you can easily spend a 100+ hours playing and replaying. Anyways this game has everything I want, the only thing that would make this the greatest porn game to exist if there weren't a bug around every corner, the developer had the time and means to really work this game out and if the renders were of high quality. Yes, there are plenty of other issues but honestly after a patch and learning the game I was able to play with zero problems and fully get into it. Anyways thank you to SoTN and BoTN both for their importance in making this game what it is.

P.S The soundtrack is extremely good! Except for some of the rap, I don't know who in the world finds that kind of kids bop rap enjoyable but hey, all music is good for someone.
