I agree with your point. Thing is, and that is what I highlight in my response and my review, is that while we all love some nice scenes, I also prefer games that has some story and deep, well-written characters. To me, it's not only about the fap. It's about the road to the fap. That's why I play these games to begin with. To get a nice story and eventually a good fap.. gotta be honest.
Absolutely. I never claimed that my criteria were some sort of absolute measurement that everybody had to use. In fact, the majority of those who made a rating has rated this game very well. My point was that those things I highlight as missing, are so in my opinion. You may very well think that those things doesn't have to be in the game to begin with. That's fine. I think they should be. That's pretty much where we stand.
Absolutely, and I did write a scathing review of Fate of Irnia. You'd have to look pretty hard to find a game with such a disjointed story. Seriously, it's like two writers unbeknownst of each other set out to write a story. Then at the last minute found out about each other and to glue the story together. Probably should've given it 1 star instead of 2.. oh well.

Listen. This is your game, and I'm happy that a dev actually takes their time to respond and be active in the commentary which is what you are. Respect for that. Now, I will remind you of one important thing when one is making pretty much anything, whether it is a game, a cake or something else entirely: not everybody will like it. You will always find people who will love your stuff, rate it 5/5 and then there are others who won't.
I also did a bunch of the lonelyfans as well. That was pretty nice. But like I say in my review: the art is good.
The main reason why this game didn't work for me is probably that I didn't actually realize that there wasn't any story at all. So I waited for it to develop. Only problem is, of course, that it never did.
It's a bit like some movie reviewer going to the cinema to watch an action movie. It's explosions all around... but no story and the characters are never really explored or developed. Would you call that an interesting movie? Sure, it never alluded to having a story, and the characters was intentionally never deepened. Because of that the movie could add up to about 3 stars - after all it was all explosions, exactly what it promised.
But for those who expected explosions and some story with a side dish of character development, they would not like the movie as much. That is where I am with this game. I rate a game for having shitty, good or nonexistent stories as those things matter to me. Likewise, I care about the characters, the setting etc etc. They are not actually unreasonable to expect in a game, just like story isn't unreasonable to expect in a movie.
I did unlock the basic sex scenes, the massage parlor and strip club. Here's the thing; because I thought this game had a story, I didn't progress down those routes as I went for the "smarts" instead - that is mostly going to the tutoring stuff. Even at one point seducing a student and all. Fun all around. I did some of the student bar stuff too, and went to the night club. I also spent much time on the beach and met the various girls.

I don't do cheats. They usually suck out the enjoyment of progressing in a game. Maybe I should've used them here, but at that point it's questionable if I'd continue. Cheats is something I use once I've beat a game, to spice it up.
I did use them. The alcohol and the magazines/books.
Unreasonable to expect to find a story in a game? Not at all. But first thing first, I don't judge your game worse just because it is a VN/Ren'py without a story. This isn't about the medium or platform. I judge it because it don't have a story and the characters aren't explored.

I rate a game for the qualities I, subjectively, find in a particular game - like everybody else does. For instance, although NTR is not my main cup of tea, I can play it and still see the quality of the story, writing, characters, art and world behind it.
You don't have to love my review. Hell, you can throw it straight in the trash if you want - and you'd probably do just that if you could. Yet, on the parameters that I rate games this one just didn't fit me, thus the rating.
This is exactly right. You should never review something for what you wanted it to be, or project your expectations onto something. You should always review something for what it actually is and how well it achieved its set out goals.
There are plenty of valid criticisms that could laid out against my game, but accusing me of not having a story in a game that intentionally doesn't have a story feels incredibly disingenuous. My other games are visual novels and people have praised the characters and writing. For this game I wanted to do something different and not lean into a story, especially since writing story is one of the most time consuming aspects of development, and this is supposed to be a small project to practice coding and do some market research.
The review did give me a few ideas to improve my game, but it just comes across as very misinformative out of context. The main criticisms for example: "You can't do a whole lot", and "There is little to do", are generally false statements.
(Also, the bad point about the Crush not having art will be changed eventually. All named NPCs will have art before the game is released.)

I’ll be honest, I don’t understand the position that this game doesn’t have a story. From where I’m standing, there’s quite a bit of story.
Granted, not every action contributes to the plot, the plot is essentially an excuse for the porn to exist, and the story is a great deal more ‘choose your own adventure’ than is typical, but the story is there if you care to look.
Premise: Girl gets into her dream college only to realize that she can’t afford it unless she takes drastic steps and so sets out to do so.
From there, it’s all pretty much up to player decisions. Will the girl be a model student or a dropout? How will she make the money for tuition? Will she manage to keep her morals or be corrupted by temptation? There’s a multitude of arcs you could put this girl through, each one as valid as another. Most bring her into contact with characters that have unique and distinct personalities, making the narrative being crafted that much richer.
But make no mistake, while there is plenty of story to be had for a game that claims not to focus on it, it is up to the player to seek out and craft that narrative for themselves. If you’re looking for a plot that is spoon-fed to you, you won’t find it here.

That's certainly one aspect I decided to heavily lean on. You'll have to use your imagination, but the sim elements of MTA are perfect for making your own stories. What tempted your Taco? What finally broke her? Was she reluctant at first, or did she rush into things? etc. I find sometimes these stories you make on your own are more compelling than anything that can simply be written at you.

Prediction: 2022/2023 feels like the end of the road for this. I've been enjoying this since the mid 2021 (when it began), and is probably one of the most fast paced games I've played in a few nights, and updates deliver on time in between waits that does not fail upon expectations

cant seem to get pregnant with mr.slime and i cant seem to find the futa mode ether..... btw using furtility plus doesnt seem to be effective with mr.slime what am i missing? stupid question does it only work in the alley and what happens if you bring the slime home? can you get pregnant after words or only in the alley?
bank seems bugged. can't threaten to report even with high smarts, can't accept sex offers even with the required stats.
