"SaveData" folder with gameplay save states isn't what controls unlocks in the Gallery. "OtherConfigData" folder and ga_otherData.txt is where gallery unlocks are stored.

I got this game like two years back and got quite then I dropped it for whatever reason (I don't even remember lol), I came back and it still gets stuck at the examine interaction after the first boss

I was wondering the same thing. I stopped playing because the game was fully in japanese, but I don't think that has changed, am I wrong? Dow anyone know anything about any english translation?
You may have clicked the first set of downloads, on the first page there is the Win(Bug Fixed) links. At least for these downloads, the game is translated to English and does not hang at the first event after the bandit boss. Downloaded and tested yesterday.

You got to make it to the ranch for that. Keep playing, not easy getting there. without some pre-reqs. To me the ranch is the true ending of the game.
