Please respect devs wishes in situations like this, they not trying to actively keep it from pirates they are aware that pirating exists but not waiting the extra 3 weeks only hurts us in the long run and leaves a bad taste in the devs mouth. Keep things amicable and everyone wins

Yes, Besides that, he will release it to the public 3 weeks after tier 1 subscribers gain access (which is 2 weeks). No pirating necessary :)

(i think this is accurate from what i've read previously, as well as his discord... please correct me if i am mistaken)

For comics, this is of course true. But not for games. In any case, he did not release publicly version 0.17.1 although it was released more than a month ago.

omg some kind of online respect *shock horror* GIVE ME MY FREE PORN NAOW

is that what you want me to say? or just something along the lines of treating a dev like a content cow to be milked until they dry up and/or stop producing content. Common courtesy goes a long way in treating people like people and respecting what they do and create. Even if you cant/wont support them financially

Don't get me wrong but there was never a public release for 0.17.1 only for V0.15.2. And even then, Tier III and Tier II (after three weeks) only get excess to updates. (Not Tier I.)

Not all the time but occasionally a dev will ask something like please wait before ripping/sharing their content for the sake of seeing the change in their metrics and allowing the product/project to gain traction or build interest or whatever their personal reason is. I would say about 80% of the time a dev asks (on this site atleast) people say fuck you and just upload it anyway but its is nice when people respect the developers enough to acknowledge an embargo, it creates a better rapport from what i have seen
