Sorry if this has been asked already but I don't want to look through recent posts as there seem to be a bunch of spoilers and I'm only up to Chapter 12 currently. I started getting these popups occasionally saying that scenes have been unlocked in previous chapters. What does this mean? I have to go back and start the game again to see these? Or is this some function of the walkthrough mod? I'm so confused.
No need to play from the start you can just go back to the chapters the bonus scenes are in, for this game it is good to always make a save at the start of a chapter.

This seems like very odd design. Really enjoying this game but why would I want to go right back and just play through a bunch of stuff I just played?

Different choices. Hold down the CTRL key and skip stuff if you play through stuff you have seen before.

I get replaying a game to make different choices and see different outcomes.

I don't get why there are scenes that are supposedly locked on first playthrough and then are available on a second playthrough.

That's how some VNs work, simple as that.

I know what I am about to say is deeply ironic given this is a porn game set in a zombie apocalypse, but I am hoping there is no harem involving Alice. That would immediately turn this game into one of those implausible and unrealistic incest harem games.

The strength of this game is the relationship between the characters is so realistic and grounded. That is why my MC never slept with Sydney, because Carol should never have been okay with it or encouraging it. She should be jealous and angry. I understand why it is in there because of the porn tropes, but for me it cheapens and weakens the plot strengths of the MC and Carol.

I have been waiting to bang her since the dream sequence, so yeah, give me the option if I want a mini Harem.
Now about the realistic background. The world as we know it has ended and survivors have to do adapt.
Jack being a resourceful guy can have his little Harem imo. He provides and keep his women safe.
A bit of sex and companionship is not out of place because there are no other dudes around in their case.

Well, I haven't played every VN out there obviously, but I've never seen bonus scenes that are only available on a replay of the game.

Usually bonus scenes would be presented upon completion of a chapter, or available in the gallery after. Maybe they are? But that's why I came here to ask because it's something I haven't seen before and didn't exist last time I played this around 0.9.

And if not it doesn't seem like a good idea from a player perspective, especially in a game like this with such a rich story, I don't want to stop playing and reload a save to go and see a scene from the chapter I just played, that would be very immersion breaking. Just my 2c.

I have seen it before in japanese vns, It's a way to add replay value. On the other hand you don't have to stop playing and redo the entire chapter everytime. The idea is replaying the entire game once it's finished. Then those extra bits in every chapter will add something new for the returning player.

As Ragnar wrote, this feature is in game for replaying purpose. If you wish play game only one, you still get full experience of what game is about. These snippets are added for us, who don’t want to say good bay to characters and start game again, not to hide content for others.

They aren’t some long scenes. They are few pictures with some text, which would spoiler story, if implemented during first path, but do some insight about what Sydney did for example.

Because several of them were coded in the past, but the pictures were not rendered until recently. So they were just added to the game, as a simple way of seeing them if you go back through and viewing them - you can see them in the main menu.

Again, since this game is not finished - adding content to previous chapters as it becomes finished is not a big deal in my book.

I'm with him on this, this is a weird feature. Replaying the game with different choices to see different things is normal, but making same choices to see additional things is surprising. First time I see this on a game I play from this site, though I didn't play a lot of jap vn.

It's like those scenes don't exist for me, but well it is what it is, doesn't bother me much

I actually kind of agree with both sides here. I've read quite a few VNs so I'm more than familiar with the concept of additional scenes showing up after your initial playthrough. Since we're reading this in an uncompleted state though and the scenes unlock at the end of chapters and not at the end of your first playthrough, it can feel a bit odd given a lot of us just reload saves and view them right away. The reason I'm (mostly) ok with them is because they tend to be flavor for characters and events that we don't know about at that point. Having them be available right away would be a bit spoilery or at least bad story flow.

For me, this is also the only game that has a feature like that with the unlockable scenes and now I know why because I don't play Japanese VNs at all, most of them are in shit engines, are censored, and are heavily focused on NTR and Rape so nothing that interests me.

There a quite a few good jap VNs.
Thought the large problem i have with jap VNs is:
-Either it's some boring absolute vanila school romance typ (sleep inducing and seen a hundred times over), often with medicore visuals.
-A simple fuck fest, devoid of any story or good characters (Miel-games)
-The typical heavy ntr/rape/monster BS with good visuals and devoid of anything i would call a story...(Black Lilith-games)

It is a real challenge to find something, which has an actual good/interesting story and characters...and is translated.

The work for 0.17.0 is progressing steadily. With the change up in personal work schedule (no more telecommuting), the workload for this chapter is being broken up and done in smaller chunks and stitched together in coding. So, some scenes may be built and arranged over a couple days as the script, shooting, and coding all come together. Still, making good progress.

With bringing Alice into the group, you now have to manage your interactions with her as well. Unlike Carol and Naomi, though, the stats you can earn with Alice are a little different. Or, at least what they mean in terms of your relationship with her.

Love: Jack already has a relationship with Alice, though it's mostly a friendship between two people who share an unconventional intertwined life. Still, you know how things change.

Conflict: As you may have noticed, there is an uneasiness between Alice and Naomi. While they are family, Naomi feels there's a bit of competition between them. This is actually a measure of the tension between Alice and Naomi in terms of how they both interact with Jack. This stat may have as much an impact on Naomi as it does Alice.

Nerve: On top of the usual stress caused by being in dangerous situations, this also represents Alice's struggle with her recent injuries and mental trauma. When Jack asks her about the day of the explosion on the 135 or her husband or son, she'll likely gain points in this. Much like Nerve for the girls, this isn't a bad stat, but one that changes her reactions. It may make her more prone to bouts of depression. On the flip-side, talking with her might provide the "amateur therapy" she needs.

Thanks for you interest and support,

Initially I was worried Alice was going to be a short term thing and killed off in a cheap 'Walking Dead' type of way for shock value. This gives me hope she will be here for the duration.

Quite fast progress.

Truth be told i think this is the first time i saw the dev making a definition about the "Nerve" stat.
