This seems to be the most popular opinion (by far in the West), even when people aren't aware of the nomenclature. Could I hear some inputs as to why do you think that is?

Most people don't like getting cucked and would prefer to be the "alpha" instead

and yeah, netori being in the "alpha" position is better.
im pretty sure this would apply to girls too, not just guys. (we just don't have that many where the girl is in the cucked position)

They're really just the ones who bark loudest about being in a niche of a niche fetish. Most people would rather have no cuckold content period, and like most people those content with what they're getting don't tend to comment as much so those who have no preference among type of cuckold content don't generally bother to comment. The netori people constantly complain so much because their niche is often just not interesting to write so fewer games get made cause the guy who always wins is boring. It's impossible to make stakes when the outcome is guaranteed from the start, and for a game to have only Netori, it has to be guaranteed. Otherwise when you fail to seduce the girl, it's by definition Netorare, and they come and whine.
For a similar example look at that Anya game that got released earlier. Other than the complaints about a lack of cgs, the biggest complaint is that the main character is basically invincible from the start and so it's boring AF.

Thanks a lot for the inputs! Those are good assumptions. I see the very same effect for movies and anime; must I estimate that you always assume the protagonist's POV, as if you were the same person? It confuses me when the complaints are aimed at netorare works in which the central male character is in fact absent for most of the story. Ideas?

Usually (or always), in a VN or anything with Netorare, you're placed in the shoes of the protag who's getting cucked or the girl getting stolen. Some people tend to put themselves in the main character instead of the people cucking.
It just depends on the type of person you are. If people can put themselves are the cucker in Netorare (Besidse Netori), they would treat Netorare and Netori as the same thing (NTR).
And to what Troqu said, yeah... some people are just loud when it comes to complaining about NTR.
(Though even NTR lovers complain to people who don't like NTR and call them "VanillaFags" [commonly in nhentai], while people who don't like NTR just call them "Cucks"... Both sides are awful.)

That's definitely true, though I'm of the opinion that if you're going into a thread/gallery about something with a specific focus (NTR, Beast, Scat, whatever) to complain about it's fetishes (or, though far more rare, lack of one) then you kinda deserve to be shit on at least a little. I use exhentai myself and see plenty of the vanillafags/cucks comment wars, but they're almost always on NTR (all 3 flavors) content and the only time I saw one started in something vanilla was entirely because the author of a work that almost always does NTR did vanilla for once.
IMO, just stay in your lane. If something has content focused on a fetish you dislike, just leave. There's a literal fuck ton of porn in the world, ignore the shit you don't care for, and if you mus complain do so constructively and politely in a place the author will read. Other commenters ain't shit and trying to convince them isn't going to result in more of your fetish existing anyway.

You probably blocked the autotranslator with your firewall. It needs access to the net to translate.
