Didn't think a goon site would be the place where i feel old, but prior to something like before 2019ish? nyl pretty much only did short animations. he had a few like generous donation 1 and 2, i still remember when you'd have to go to this fucking TUMBLR to get the new animations... crazy to see his progression from 2015 sfm to the stuff he does now. 1726139377818.png ˢʰᵃᵐᵉ ʷᵉ ⁿᵉᵛᵉʳ ᵍᵒᵗ ᵐᵉᵈᵘˢᵃ

Wow that takes me back! I used to follow his Tumblr too. I remember back then getting a 1 minute animation with more than 1 pose was like finding gold in your backyard lol.

Not to derail the thread but I remember downloading a vid that was like 5 min of Shepard sucking a futa Liara (I think) and thinking it was the greatest porn vid ever! It had an intro, cumshot and voices spliced in from the game. How times have changed!

It was called embrace eternity I think in case anyone was wondering

Lol I dunno why anyone still supports this guy. It's obvious he's milking his Patreon. He's been "working" on the same Bordello animation for over a year now.
I don't think he's milking them. Eventually I realized myself that I had too many high hopes for what Nyl could do because of his awesome talent. But now I consider him a short animation creator who might occasionally make something longer.

Doesn't mean he isn't talented or that he is ripping people off. If people pay him for what he does, then that's their choice. It's just that people might need to adjust their perception of him and his body of work. His output is everywhere so it's not like people can't research what to expect before signing up.

g4e stands for Girlfriends4ever. Truly a hallmark of 3D porn movies, made by Miro. The classic. The Cinema. :sneaky:

And here's the queen herself. She's an older model I decided to fix up for this release, just to get her out there and make her more usable in the future for myself. She's a good character for this line of work, but she's so... extreme... that I find it harder to come up with a natural scene that fits her. Like a lot of the other characters in Overwatch are for the most part functioning members of society who rise to the occasion - like the Avengers. But she basically just walked out of a Mad Max movie. The hair alone is insanity.
It's not really a problem though, just something I noticed

Y’all need to recognize that is simply how it works when you’re a singular animator. You start small, get bigger with time but that doesn’t equal longer work, it equals more time to make more detailed work.

I feel like people got spoiled with Studio FOW’s quality and production time years back, because you can’t realistically expect that level from a single artist.

The money doesn’t go into the PC to make it render faster, it keeps the bills paid and a roof over the artists’ head so they can continue what they’re already doing.

Nyl takes his time and the quality speaks for itself. They’re also decent enough to pause charges when necessary, so they’re far from a milking it artist like (unironically mentioned before) Miro.

Lets be real, the creators people bitch about are making FAR more money than simply keeping the lights on as you are saying. Because we're in the Nyl thread I'll use him as an example, his patreon says 34k a month. Even if I assume he only takes home half of that, he is hardly living on white bread and mayo in a dingy basement apartment with a single lightbulb.

While some artists, like Miro as you pointed out, are for sure just milking this I think its far more likely that these people just aren't good at being self employed as far as productivity goes. I would guess that they go through a "manic" work phase and then get burned out. Setting a more regular schedule would likely improve their work life balance as well as their productivity. I know people hate management...but these people need a supervisor. They need to be doing an analysis about hiring people to offload some of the work and if that would benefit their bottom line. AgentRedGirl is a good example of this, hired a staff and puts out a long form vid monthly or so.

I guess to be fair, most of them probably don't really care because they know that once you get to a certain level of popularity you can pretty much coast from there and people will continue to pay them.

Also, to head it off before people say it: blah blah, I know its patreon/subscribstar, your just giving them money or whatever. My take is that its a shame that people don't take the business part of this as seriously as they take their art.

And now I've become a paragraph andy on a porn pirating website, sigh.

The thing is with organizing and offloading work, you're putting your trust in others to stand for your quality. You're also effectively becoming a manager, and all on a platform that could boot you at any given moment.

Patreon and such is too much of a rickety bridge to set up a substantial team. And as for where the money goes, I was being lenient with what it goes towards. Homes, a vehicle, insurance, food, utilities, etc. Assuming they're by themselves, its a lot, depending on where they live.

I remember that one that video was so legendary
dont forget the bleach futas4you. i stumbled upon it by accident in recent while back and didnt even know that anime existed (like at all, only watched pokemon, digimon and little of bit of GBZ, that was sync for television, but it was at 7:30 so I cpulsnt watch since I was going to school)

10 years later, i see yoruichi, her zanpakuto, and rangiku and thinking from where I recognize those chars.

but yeah, I didnt know at the time why the g4e was 30 min and it was like maybe 13 min of real footage. but I still watched the video more then 30 min for sure

Yes, I understood you didn't mean just housing. But using Nyl again as an example with my 50% take home...thats over 200k. Unless these creators are living far beyond their means, money isn't the problem. As far as Patreon cutting you off, and I'm looking at this from an American perspective, that isn't any different from anyone else. Most states don't require a cause to fire you, and even if they did its pretty easy to come up with one, so patreon creators are just like the rest of us.

I concede your point about offloading the work, not everyone wants to do that.

I think I'm just too pure for this world. I think if people are paying you for a good/service you have a responsibility to deliever it in a timely manner. Over a year on a single animation while taking breaks for other mini projects and animation challenges just ain't it.

Except you're framing it as 'they're giving money, things should be in a timely manner'

Patreon, SS, kofi, whatever isn't transactional, its voluntary. Unless its a direct commission from you to an artist, there is no obligation to have something out every month. Its why often I'll just dip in a guy's Patreon during a release, then dip out, I don't need to be there to see every WIP and update. It isn't the same as say a shareholder in a Fortune 500 company. Constantly wanting infinite growth is a thing that's poisoned the games industry.

There's a big difference between Nyl and say Noname55. one is producing high detailed Blender works, and the other is making simple loops in SFM with the occasional longer video like once a year. Its much easier to expect monthly output from the latter than the former.
