I've put this game off for months and months after first hearing about it as a reference in some other game that I played, and much like how I only learned of Hero's Harem Guild after seeing it referenced in Lessons in Love, I'm kicking myself for not discovering it sooner. The shit is good. Admittedly, I was a little underwhelmed at first because I prefer story driven games and it seems like a lot of the events on the ship don't necessarily have the best chronological consistency. Like being able to just casually talk to Lym after her storming out on you in the Botany lab is the biggest example that sticks out for me (I really hate that that story beat is still left dangling at the end of this latest update btw) but there are a handful of other small instances where it felt like I was reading events in an improper order. That's probably my biggest gripe with sandboxes that don't have character events walled off with strict requirements and dependencies (that obviously can also be annoying though if the requirements are too arbitrary, shoutout to Lessons in Love)
But anyway, once I got passed my usual apprehensions with sandbox games, I quickly fell in love with this game even despite the things that weirded me out or just annoyed me. For instance, though I haven't read through this thread yet, I'm sure it's a common sentiment that that random newscast event with the big disgusting alien was not the most well received thing to ever happen.. I definitely wasn't a fan of it either. In fact, I wasn't a huge fan of any of the alien/monster race girls. I was particularly annoyed with the rapid relationship with the big dragon lady Zara. Her being all in love with the Captain just kinda irked me. But that's of course just my personal preference, there's nothing actually wrong with the characters themselves.. I do kinda like Bit tho, she's cool.
As far as the main human girls go (and I include Nyx as this because despite the ears, at a glance she appears to just be human) I'm not too fond of the doctor or of Noel. I don't dislike them but they do bore me. That said, I love Lym and Sybil so much and as long as they're there, I can put up with any number of annoying/boring/unattractive characters. I really hope more focus goes into them in later updates, but it seems clear that Nyx is probably the dev's favorite girl and will probably get the most attention overall. I do like Nyx a lot and her scenes are definitely super hot and well written, I'm just not really into femdom, and the maledom alternative seemed a bit too harsh in contrast.
Really, the Captain in general is a bit too heavy handed sometimes all throughout. And I get it, it's a porn game, but his aggressive horniness seems kinda odd stacked up next to his otherwise gentle and compassionate demeanor. The Sybil birthday event was the one that really made me think it was a little odd. I was of course looking forward to scenes with Sybil, but jumping straight into having her go two rounds and then lick his dick clean before they went at it again just felt rushed. It looked like she felt rushed too, which is unfortunate. It didn't seem nonconsensual or anything but it did feel uncomfortably like manipulating an emotionally vulnerable virgin into fucking you immediately after telling her you'd always be there for her to help her through her traumas. Not the coolest thing ever, but whatever, it's a porn game. There should've been another choice to make there though. I personally felt like fingering her and then taking a bath with her would've been a more natural progression in their relationship. Maybe spend the night and have sex in the morning.
But overall, great game. I'm definitely anxious for more. By the time this story ends though, there better be a threesome with Lym and Sibil. That's all I ask for.
