This... doesn't sound right, at least with the full playthrough done with the current game build -- if you choose to "focus on kickboxing" in chapter 5 this resets Ian's jiujitsu back to 1:
Python:
        "I had to decide what to focus on from now on."
        menu:
            "Stick with kickboxing":
                $ renpy.block_rollback()
                $ jiujitsu = 1
// ...
            "Focus on Jiu-Jitsu":
                $ renpy.block_rollback()
                $ jiujitsu = 2
Then in Ch.10 you lose out on bonus point from extra training which requires jiujitsu > 1, you get +1 point if you did decent in spar with Jeremy and another +1 during regular training session for 3 points total, while you need 4 points to unlock mastery training.
Current beta version, following that line I reached that end, in fact I asked to see if it was a bug and apparently not. I win the tournament fight by submission with the method I used in the Alpha qith master grappling or I win it by KO using improved striking (although it costs me a lot more)

So I guess at some point it doesn't reset or it doesn't work well and they haven't realized it.

So is chapter 12 just an Ian episode or will we get to play as Lena also?
Chapter 12 is a normal chapter with Ian and Lena's point of view, at the moment only the prologue is published, which is Ian's point of view, we will have to wait for the next update of the chapter (beyond the prologue) to see that of Lena

But was the entire playthrough done in this version, or did you continue a save from older version(s) of the game?
Entire playthrough with this version, If you have time to do a playthrough using skip to see if the same thing happens to you, tell me because I'm starting a new one and I intended to follow that method again, but if you say there may be a mistake, I'll reconsider.

Each of those events are happen at random. I just gave the best choices to make. If you are still getting lit up, your athletics, striking or grappling is probably not high enough. For the choices to work you need to be at least a little bit competent at striking or wrestling. I see you have been struggling with the tournament. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
I raised my stats with the console. I raised my stats to multiple different levels, and none worked. It made me feel as if the stats didn't matter at all, and the event was strictly random AF, and I was getting destroyed by shit luck RNG.

The stats are definitely included in script checks, so perhaps you've made some mistake when trying to modify them, and it didn't take? For example, it's easy to forget that if you modify a stat through console and then roll back to earlier spot in your playthrough, it reverts the stat to what it was originally.

There's no RNG at all in at least first three instances of any used action, for what it's worth.

You could try restarting and just skip dialogue. I promise it doesn't take time to reach the tournament. It'll take tops 30mins.
When you restart just follow my guide on training Ian.

Does this chapter have a bug or is betrayal inevitable? Ian always shows up at Cindy's house even though he hasn't agreed anything with her, and has nothing to do with her anymore and this leads to betrayal, I thought it could have been a previous choice but I restarted the game and the same thing happened, it's annoying .

I always load the save, which is in the dialogue right before the tournament, THEN use the console, THEN begin the tournament. I'm not rolling back, because it doesn't LET me roll back during the tournament. And the issue isn't within the first 2-3 actions, because I realize I get the same results every time on those. But it IS random AF in the others. And I NEVER get a winning result in ANYTHING that is random. I edited my stats to 4 or 5 in every category. The only thing I can think of is maybe it bugs out if I give him both grappling and fighting points. Or it just bugs out when using the console, at all.

If I do restart, it won't be any time soon. I've moved on to other games, for now. I'll come back at a later time, maybe.
When I get frustrated at something, I tend to just move on from it. And by the time I finally get to a point where I have absolutely nothing else to do, the game has usually left my interests and I no longer care. This is supposed to be a porn game. I don't tend to give many fucks for porn games that frustrate me. Porn is supposed to RELIEVE frustration. lol

Going the grappling route I posted is extremely consistent and I've never had any variance in it. Try that to win.

I agree. Kick-boxing suits Jeremy because of his long reach. Jiu-jitzu favours more compact characters like Ian and Wen. Ian's first opponent was not well-prepared to deal with a grappler. And as long as you make the correct choices, and avoid getting hit too hard, Ian stays in control through most of the fight. Later in the tournament, he's going to meet someone who does know how to deal with a grappler, which is when it will get more interesting. I'm not sure I've trained the boxing element sufficiently, so I might come unstuck later on, because of this?

At this point, does Ian even believe he can win the tournament? Isn't this all just a case of progressing as far as he can, without being overly bothered if he ultimately gets knocked out? The most important thing for Ian, is surely winning the book contest, because that will set up his future career as an author?

Has anyone been able to trigger the Alison scene in this update?
I've tried a bunch of different routes, can't figure it out.

Ah. Yes, the repeated actions turn random eventually (after the action is used 3 times, iirc). This i believe is to make the player vary their approach, by using a range of various tactics instead of just repeating the same move over and over and over. Or because writing 3 variants for each action is already plenty of work and doing more would be too much for what's essentially just a little sidequest. Or a bit of both.

The solution is basically like that old joke: "Doctor, it hurts when i do this." "Then don't do this." Vary your moves: use a mix of taunts, attacks, blocks and counters.
