False Hero has a good story, more linear but its well written. In fact there arent many games besides "boy fucks mom, sister, aunt and all classmates while delivering pizza" so any games that have adult char in adult plots interest me, like False Hero.

I wanna try Jessica Oneal Hard News too. I read good things about that.
Jessica O'Neil is overrated. The writing is good for a porn game, but that's not saying much. Still decent compared to most of what's out there, so try it. But it won't blow your mind. It's not very interactive and the sex scenes didn't do it for me. But it's somewhat worth it for the plot. Other than Eva Kiss games, I recommend Dr Amana. There really aren't many other realistic-ish games out there that are well done.

I'll check out False Hero though.

You can save your game right there, there is no more content. The next screen would let you go back to main menu, you can probably correct this with unren and some code but its too much trouble and I can't keep my eyes open anymore, gonna hit the bed. Don't worry buddy this is the end of the chapter you didn't lose anything, just save right there and wait for next release (y)

Hey.
We did an interview with Eva Kiss. If you are interested to hear a more in-depth story and some behind the scene takes you are welcome to read it
Nice interview. A few things I noticed:

EK: "Of course the lead characters are my favourites (that's why I chose them as the leads) but I enjoy writing each member of the supporting cast for different reasons"

Looks like there may have been a time when there weren't pre-determined leads to the game. Can you imagine if one of the other characters was the male or female lead?

EK : "My early estimate was that ORS would have no less than 20 chapters, but I can't really say. [... ...] It's clear some outlining is necessary when writing almost anything, especially a game like this, but I'm clearly a compass writer (or gardener). I enjoy developing the story as I go, flowing with it [...]"

Looks like there's no telling how long ORS will go, as long as Eva Kiss remains passionate about the project and still has more story to tell.

Also, her point that a lot of porn games play like they're written by horny 15 year old boys made me laugh, because it's true.

Great interview! And I 100% agree with Eva here...

"The strength of ORS is in it's characters and their interactions, so fetishes is something that's a bit in the back of my mind. I try to write what feels exciting and that makes sense story-wise. I guess the main fetish I want to explore is emotional attachment, to the characters and the situations, both the good and bad kind!"

I'm a huge film buff, and most classic films, novels, TV series, videogames that are the best of the best/my all time faves always have great characters I care about (or despise) within their story. You need at least 2 of the 3 methinks to be good (all 3 for great): characters, story/script, worldbuilding/great visual storytelling.

Most recent creative efforts film and gaming wise usually lack great story and characters. And several big budget films & Triple A games have been found wanton via really bad writing/plot structure as a vehicle to deliver pre-vized action CGI fests that bore me. Most Triple A titles in nearly all genres have been really weak the past decade or so, either ruined by "patchwork development", microtransaction overload or rushed release dates by execs, then needing a years worth of patches to make the game decent. But there is still good creative stuff being made for sure, especially the past 15 years or so with scripted television series riding a modern golden era, becoming more cinematic/great writing, having more time to develop characters really well within serialized storytelling.

Like I said in my review of Eva's game, I loved Bioware's SW:KoTOR (and less popular Jade Empire), Mass Effect and Dragon Age series'. So it was cool to read Eva mentioned those as inspirations for her game. I feel like I lucked out stumbling on to Our Red String as my first Adult VN played, I really enjoy gaming again after being disappointed mostly in the hobby as of late. I'm spoiled forever now haha!

Thanks for the comments guys, appriciated!. Eva was a blast to talk too, we chated for almost 4 hours :). Her working process still blows my mind and she really is very talented.
It was a nice insight into what goes into each update (and also interesting to read just for the sake of it).

I also noted she doesn't quite like how GGGB fully turned out in retrospect, she has really matured as a game dev and writer.

Been reading some Adult Manhwa's last week or so. ORS kinda reminds me of it Art style wise(Not 1 to 1 but draws from similar sources), and perhaps even some locations.
To bad Most of these Manhwa's suck with Story.

yeah, that's really true. some of the VNs are written simplistic like they were invented by kids. and i'm always a little shocked at myself then, that i think any story involving sex could be childish in nature. but i don't know any better word for it, that could describe how cringey and basic some storys are.

i find it interesting that in the interview you can clearly tell that she is skilled and intelligent, by just merely answering or redirecting the questions to what is most important.
for example the gender question, she doesn't really answer it, but answers what the question is meant to find out, or better yet answers what you need to know.
personally i don't understand how that question is being deemed so important to begin with.
most porn VNs are male MC and i can understand that being a male dev might make it easier to write a story in the POV of a male MC. but there are female MC games from male devs as well. and when someone claims that most of those female leads are unrealistic and dumb, i gotta tell you, male MCs are not one bit behind them. it's just a different kind of unrealistic and dumb.

generally i have a hard time finding even one game that comes close to the refined story and character bulding eva kiss seems to have in her games (it's only two for now, but eh, still out-performances everyone else so far). so i don't think it's a matter of what gender she is, it's more like she is an outstanding talent on the whole. it just happens do be in a male dominated industry, while it might be that she is a woman.
someone once said that authors reflect themselves in their characters, meaning that characters in a story are always aspects of the author's personality and then they expand on them. i clearly can see in holly her sudden rise in recognition for her art in a profession she didn't see herself in, in emma her open interest in the unorthodox as she uses her art skills for a porn game, in ward her affiliation with dark themes and corruption (best seen in GGGB with the thug path and the death of some characters), in lena her junction of nudity and sexuality being an art form in it's own right since she is creating art with writing a porn game, and she herself even said that she is like ian an aspiring writer. i'm sure if we would dig deep enough, we could find correlations in all characters. (though i've been only interpreting things here, so better take it with a grain of salt)
having such a diverse set of characters to represent aspects of oneself, i don't believe your own gender plays any role in your creation.

i guess some surprise comes from most players being male and that porn is generally consumed more by males. but there are more of us here than you think. so the most interesting part about the gender thing is, that it is "uncommon" and that you should be happy more people enjoy the same thing you do (or you do not. whatever)

Thanks, I really enjoyed reading this interview (y)

My thoughts:
As much as I enjoyed Good Girl Gone Bad, I can also definitely see her amazing effort to improve in Our Red String.
If I had to name one problem I had with GGGB, it is that I didn't always understand the good/bad mechanic... sometimes I raised the "good" score when I actually intended to get a higher "bad" score. Also, the thug route is something I personally did not find too appealing, I was more into a slutification/bimbofication path that would seem as realistic as possible (although I'm not judging anyone who enjoyed turning Ashley into a thug, we all have our own fetish (y)), so I am completely OK with her choice to avoid certain extreme fetishes in ORS. Making it look real is actually the best part in Eva Kiss writing, IMO.
By the look of chapters 6 and 7, the story is getting very exciting and I do expect the characters to go through progressively more distinct changes.
I understand a lot more the RPG-style mechanics in this game. My very first impression when I started playing ORS was that I was playing an everyday life simulator. I've never seen an erotic VN with such depth to it, it's quite cathartic for me to have found something like this.
