You are not being forced into anything, you're reading a story about people and their relationships with each other.
When I say "I" I refer to the player playing your VN, because it isn't tagged as a kinetick novel, most people will expect to choose things like which relationship pursuit, or how many, etc. Now let's make something clear, what I was saying is what I, as a player, don't like to see in a game, and because of the lack of the kinetick novel tag, I was thinking this was a "game" an "AVN" and in those you have choices, yours not, then mb.
I'm not really sure what other game you're referencing where that happened but that is not what takes place in my game.

If I say in the sentence something like: "What happens in most games of X type" I'm jabbing those kinds of games, games that sell themselves as "harems" where instead they are polyamory, which isn't the same at all.
I really don't mean to be offensive, but I think your insecurities about hidden NTR or cheating are creating a picture in your head that just isn't real.
Like I said, it has to do more with being tired of games selling themselves as "harem" when it is instead a polyamory relationship which isn't the same at all. Harem 1 guy or girl that have multiple LI interested and later on in a relationship with him/her but only him/her, while polyamory may be 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 people that all are in a relationship with each other, so not the same at all.
