In this case, I think it's the tie to Auxo; as the fertility goddess, having an overabundance of life-giving milk makes sense. Pagan fertility goddesses were very often depicted as being very fecund, cranking out lots of babies and having bountiful milk. Hell, the galaxy we live in is named (albeit somewhat obliquely) to a Greek myth about the Milk of Hera, goddess of wives and mothers (her breast milk leaked and droplets from the splash created stars).
