Yeah, I was nowhere near. I haven't been deliberately targeting affection in my playthrough, so I was 10 points or so off. Being below the threshold wasn't surprising, but I thought it seemed rather high. Certainly enough to raise an eyebrow.
As for the competition winner, I was surprised at how stacked the deck is in Rosalind's favour. Veronica can at most get 1 point during her performance, where I think Felicia can crack 6 and Rosalind 7 points. Noone said it had to be fair, but you really have to go out of your way to sink the others' chances for Veronica to have a shot.
Veronica gets 4 points by default and can score a +1 thanks to the player, for a total of 5. She also wins any ties. We made sure to give everyone a fair shake, but indeed, Hana's fixed vote tips the scales a bit.

Ah, I wasn't actually looking at the variable, just glancing at the script, so I'd missed that.
I will say that it should be fairly straightforward to force a tie (once we get the fix for the photoshoot) which may be the more interesting result by setting all three of them up for punishment.
Heh, after the last update we almost double our patron count, so I think we caught a lot of people who prefer tongue punching Mina into oblivion more than anything. That, or I might've just missed the mark on making the events interesting.
I dont think it was about tongue punching, lol. It is mostly because romance with Hana and Mina added some sort of deeper feelings and connection to the game.
Before their romance it was the game mostly about depravity. I guess there is planned romance for Carnation's girls, but it is still somewhere in the future. ATM they are mostly somewhere around friends with benefits level (or on the level "I dont give fuck about those sluts", heh).
Also Mina and Hana start as vanilla girls so that gives them some plus points. It is obvious that they will become players' favorite. Whether they end up being corrupted during story or whether they will stay vanilla girlfriends, both situations will be nice.
Warren is a sick fuck (and that is a euphemism) and by any stretch he's not likable but still he brings something interesting to the table and makes this game even more enjoyable IMO (and you could say that in a way I do like him). Even such minor (relatively minor, he does have a profile page after all) character is well fleshed out and that fight with Jacob or our dialogue with him in the security room gives us an insight to his character, making the game feel less "porny" and more like a quality visual novel.
Little things like these make this game the best erotic game there is. Honestly, I can't think of another one where every person we meet in game would get his 5 minutes AND at the same time there would be no purple prose, no graphomania, no feeling that our time is being wasted just so that we would learn that an XYZ character has some tragic past or likes to fish. Less is often more and GIL and TD are the best devs because they show more than tell, using this medium to the fullest.
Profile page is great example of that - we get to know each character better (if we want to) in a concise, non-intrusive but interesting way which in turn makes the game more engaging. Another such example is Jacob-Warren bout where we didn't see the actual fight but only the outcome. It might have been partly due to time constraints (showing us this fight would take time and work) but from a narrative point of view it's perfect and makes a greater impact than showing it to us explicitly.
BTW, one of my favourite scenes in this update is this one:
Now imagine if Warren wasn't in the game or he would be some kind of robot/professional who would just stand in the background (this is what it would be like in every other game)...
Great update, as always. Loved MC's Tetsuo sleeveless shirt.
Though - and I think it's perhaps just me - I got a little bored during the 'festivities', this part of the game kinda starts feeling a little bit repetitive to me and I was mostly interested in the general plot (as always I hope we'll be able to destroy at least Kathleen) and trying to continue MC's relationship (or pursuit of it) with Veronica.
Ah, yeah. I went around and around on what number would be appropriate there. It can be hard to get a good feel of what is reasonably achievable in a blind play through (which is usually my aim for these things) given all the options in the game.
Count one more who found that number to be too high for blind playthrough. Vero is usually the only one I have any issue with greyed choices in a blind run. Wondering if she is a hardass like that by design.
The scene at the apartment at the start of the update requires 25, which I believe should be fairly easy to meet if you're going for her. She starts with 8 and has a few choices that give a huge amount of points, but will also sink her affection if you go the opposite. Those being how you deal with her advances when you first meet her and how you respond to her proposed collusion.
