Oh I guess I forgot to say this here, Happy new year folks, the few days right after a new update always make me sad, I know nothing else I play will make me have as much fun as PC. Next update should be a fun one, so looking forward to that.
Up until a few [real-world] days ago, we had had no indication that Grace was aware. Nor Chuck, as far as I can recall (it has been a while since last I looked at the early chapters). The feeling I have is that the Club trio stick to their own turf for the most part. Kat knowing about the porn does not necessarily mean the other two do.
IIRC it was at the very least hinted Chuck was aware by the way he admonished Kat for stirring shit up, when she set up Edwin to make porn flick with Rose.
Yes, we have no indication he was involved. We also have no indication he was not. Absence of evidence vs evidence of absence, and all that jazz.
To some extent yes, but the lack of evidence in situation where you can reasonably expect said evidence to appear (either Victoria or Donovan mentioning Chuck as person who arranged the audition or that anyone had hand in arranging it) suggests the lack of appearance is caused by actual absence.
I mean, you could also say that due to lack of evidence to the contrary Chuck may very well be a shapeshifting lizard from Tau Ceti, but we know that mere lack of evidence doesn't make this scenario very likely, and it's probably not worth considering.
Also, subjectively worse is not the same as objectively worse. If we go with the assumption that there is something more to the tale than the porn Edwin has shown us, it could just be something that Vic would be more embarrassed about than the porn. It could be as simple as Vic being prepared for Edwin to find her movies, but not prepared for Edwin to find out that "Uncle" Chuck knew (or even was somehow involved). I can easily see how that added layer would shake her up more, even though it does not involve her actually doing something we did not already know about.
This is possible, but i feel like it'd add nothing but complexity merely for the sake of unneeded extra complexity, one that ends up muddling the image with no benefit in return. And i think that this game's authors know better than that.
HDussen In the exhibition event where MC does a sextape with Rosie, it's revealed that Chuck knows. He specifically lectures Kat about messing with MC but *don't go overboard*
Because he knew Kat was trying to push MC's button's about "making a porno with someone that resembles his own mother"
As for the Vicky / Grace thing, yeah it could go both ways. Could be just the porno and I think it's already reasonable cause for Vic to be heavily affected because she wanted to be "the best mum" for MC as possible. At least that was the impression I got with the sacrifices she made for MC/Ian via their memories. So the porno past is already enough for her to be scared.
The other thing too (although a slight stretch) is the discussion regarding "selling the family home" by Vicky and Veronica's advice to MC regarding what it represents. For Grace to remind her and pull her away from turning the pages... It probably hit her a lot harder than expected.
Or maybe there is a little more. Both are very possible. And again, if Chuck took advantage... It brings back into discussion... Is he just the lovable uncle with a screw loose? Or was he the true mastermind antagonist all along?
So if someone wants to unlock the gallery, I am a novice so this needs to be done individually for each character and you have to get your hands dirty a bit. It is quite straight forward.
1. Download this rpa extraction tool (it's just a 7 mb file)
You must be registered to see the links
2. Create a new folder "script" (in the same folder as the script.rpa file) & "move" not "copy" the script.rpa file located in Game Directory/game/script.rpa and the exe file.
3. Drag n drop the script.rpa file onto to the "rpaExtract.exe" file or (
You must be registered to see the links
) Short version showing the clip of the author of rpaex on how to use it.
4. This will create around 71 files with 2 versions each .rpy and .rpyc (Do not touch the .rpyc it is a game engine compilation output) we will only work with .rpy
5. Now in this files you only have to tinker with the "replay****.rpy" for eg: "replayRosalind.rpy", "replayMina.rpy".
6. Open the files one by one and ( see image examples below "This should" -> "Look like this" ) & Change this line of code to
Do not copy paste as syntax might not go well with it. All you are doing in this is "removing" Look at image example
Also try not to "format" the code and if you do DO NOT USE "TAB" keyboard key only use "SPACE BARS" as TAB key WILL result in an error Renpy Engine is not compatible with "TAB" key.
Do this for each file and save remember all this should be done in a folder named "script" inside the "game" folder in the same folder as "cache" "saves" "gui".
I don't think this sort of rationalization really works when it involves stuff like "my child has found out i've been doing porn flicks". Consider how strong visceral reaction Edwin gets simply from meeting a guy who has fucked his mother in most conventional way possible, and that's with Edwin only vaguely aware of this connection.
Regarding the "wild scenario", as far as we know Chuck wasn't in any way involved in Victoria's (own) decision to contact a more established studio. Neither Victoria nor Donovan mention anything like that, Donovan's studio is completely legal venture and it's not like you need references when you apply to work in porn flick.
I feel like this need to dig for "something even worse" is mostly a result of players getting desensitized to the idea Victoria was doing porn, over the course of the game i.e. literal years it took to make it. They may be very well as numb to it as Edwin at this point.
IIRC it was at the very least hinted Chuck was aware by the way he admonished Kat for stirring shit up, when she set up Edwin to make porn flick with Rose.

You can ONLY make assumptions by relying on evidence, not by mere speculations which are based on what-you-do-not-know and what-you-did-not-see.
You are speculating that she did "more than porn" just because no character said that she ONLY did porn: sorry, but this is wishful thinking - you wish she did it.
Hana as "fuck buddies" and Mina as "casual lovers". Don't push Mina towards Veronica in this update. Go hang out with Mina by ignoring Roselind, Veronica, Felicia etc.
Bro forget Grace, the person I'm really worried about is Ian. I can only hope I have enough "bromance" points. He "reassured" us that nothing changes but now with Victoria not being a "pure" woman in his eyes, I have no idea how he's going to react. Even without his problematic views of women and relationships, this reveal would've been super tough for him given the pedestal he places her on.
Maybe that's what his Mina forgiveness plot is all about. Getting ahead of the curve and rehabilitating his personality so that the Vicky reveal doesn't horribly change things. In a scenario where we cheat with Mina and then ignore Ian (not enough bromance points), this Victoria reveal might be where he goes to the dark side.
Ian: if you tell him, you get +5 bromance points. Just check Mr Bubu's pdf walkthrough and check what the bromance points variable changes.
In my opinion the "Mina forgiveness plot" is only a wishful thinking of yours. She won't forgive anything, mostly if you are "fuckbuddies" or "casual lovers".
Ian's reaction hinges on whether he's on introspection route by the looks of it. If it's on then he says that he's glad Edwin has told him, while off that route he says in the same spot that he wishes he didn't know. So... yeah, fairly sure this can go badly.
I hope you are right, for Vic's sake. Though it must also be noted that she has had a decade or so of dreading/preparing for the day Edwin (or someone else) comes across one of her flicks. Obviously, it could be that it has been long enough now that she has let herself believe it would remain a secret, and that that is what triggers her strong reaction. Or it could be something else yet to be revealed.

Yes, we have no indication he was involved. We also have no indication he was not. Absence of evidence vs evidence of absence, and all that jazz. And that is my whole point here. Please do not read too much – or preferably anything – into a scenario it took all of 30 seconds to cobble together. (Unless it turns out it was spot on, in which case you should hail me as a prophet…)
What we did learn from the conversation with Grace is that Chuck (and Grace) has known about the porn for years. And that Vic knew that he knew. [Awkward Thanksgiving dinners - plural]
How much do we trust that guy to not take some sort of advantage?
For the record, I am not digging for anything here. I am pointing to a possibility that it seemed everyone was ignoring, which is not the same as wishing it were true. Vic's situation is/was crappy enough as it is without me wanting it to be worse.
Also, subjectively worse is not the same as objectively worse. If we go with the assumption that there is something more to the tale than the porn Edwin has shown us, it could just be something that Vic would be more embarrassed about than the porn. OH! How I much the idea to corrupt Mina to lesbian path !!
When I wase more young that now, I always dreamed to see my brunette girlfriend having sex with her blondie best friend !!
Happy new year, everyone. I was hoping the holiday would let me finish my review a lot faster this time, but it's proven to be a difficult one to write. I did not enjoy the update on my first playthrough. I'm still lukewarm on it overall, and it's been hard articulating why. I think at least half my disappointment rests squarely on me and my own expectations. I have... eclectic tastes and this update didn't suit them. That's a little unfair to hold against the update, but it's not like I could review this from someone else's point of view. So before we go any farther, take everything I say here with an industrial-strength grain of salt.
There's a huge amount of stuff in this update, including plenty of tender and/or romantic moments right up my alley, and it's all pretty high quality, at least in a vacuum. I believe my issue stems from the moments that most hold my interest not meshing as well as I would like with the other content around them. That is exacerbated by some structural problems in the way the update is layout out. My initial playthrough of Rosalind's dinner, for example, was surprisingly boring because interesting developments are concealed unless you've made the right choices, rather than being integrated into *making* those choices. The massive extravaganza with all the girls didn't click with me to the point it felt almost like padding, while the dramatic end of the update *over*achieved to such a degree I don't think it realized its own strength. And on top of all that, the new UI irked me by being both less legible and more generic.
In short, this update managed to wrong-foot my expectations with almost surgical precision right up until the finale. On the plus side, that finale was pretty fucking AWESOME!, so it's not like this was anywhere close to being a bad update. But getting to that end was slog (at least for me), and if I'm being honest I'm a little worried that Chapter 4 Update 6 is not all that well positioned to follow up on what I liked. That certainly has me nervous, even if I am still looking forward to the end of Chapter 4.
But enough generalities. We really need to get into the weeds on this one.
Okay, I think that wraps up my thoughts. Sorry for the length, to say nothing of how subjective they are. I don't think my viewpoint is the best one to judge this update, but I hope it can be of use. I still want more of the game, and I want it to be the best game it can possibly be!
tl;dr A massive update focused heavily on aspects of the game I'm less interested in, as well as some structural issues that weakened parts nearer to my heart. The ending was *very* strong, but I am a little nervous about how well the next update can follow up on it.
It's not even a question of "if" but WHEN Mina will learn about the club (Rosalind has literally said it's a brothel and while Mina assumed it was a joke this is the same case as with Walt saying the unlikely truth to Hank in Breaking Bad, Mina isn't stupid) and that will change her perspective significantly. Depending on our choices she will see that Edwin is no better than Ian but given her openness to sex I can totally see her coming to terms with Ian's behaviour and giving him a second chance. That Mina fans won't like it is another matter entirely.
I'm well aware of that. And it's my point that seeing them get together at this late stage is very difficult and may be handled in the epilogue but there's already established antagonisms which make them getting together a bit less likely with so much to be focused on as is.
If there was antagonism I would expect "don't talk with me again".
And last but not least, their break-up scene ended like this:
Mina "*Sigh*I love you, Ian. You're sweet and funny. You've shared private things about your life that I'm thankful for, but..."
Killian: "...stop."
Killian: "Please, spare me the wishy-washy feely shit." Mina: "--you're a whole lot more than you give yourself credit for. I really hope you'll see that one day."

Not antagonism but more like sadness, disappointment and resignation. Recall their conversation in this update:
There is no antagonism here and that "what did he want to talk about" part is especially glaring suggesting she's not over him yet. Same with:
If there was antagonism I would expect "don't talk with me again".
And last but not least, their break-up scene ended like this:
I think you just forgot that Ian is working at the brothel as well and I think you just forgot that Ian is the nephew's owner as well (and Mina knows that Edwin's working in that place only because of Ian).
You just wish that our MC Edwin gets cucked, just like some dudes here wants to see Victoria having sex with some club patrons and/or Ian (it is never gonna happen since it does NOT make sense at all).
So, as I've already told you: stop trolling us and remember that EDWIN is the main character, not Ian.
Just a reminder as well: the story is ending on 4th week, saturday night - in 8 days.
(Rosalind has literally said it's a brothel and while Mina assumed it was a joke this is the same case as with Walt saying the unlikely truth to Hank in Breaking Bad, Mina isn't stupid)
Mina: "What stuff?"
Felicia: "A meeting to discuss the week's theme for a sex club I'm involved in."
Mina: "Uh... um... ahuh...?"
Felicia: "I'm just kidding! I've got some errands!"

As always, I appreciate you taking the time and effort to a write a colossal send up. I never feel like an update is behind us until your analysis of it. That is how highly I think of your feedback. I wish I could say it was as fun to read as usual, but it's all the more worthwhile that it was not.
It will take a few rereads before I fully digest the bulk of it, but you've given me a lot to think about in the postmortem. You actually touched on a few concerns I had but brushed aside in favor of inertia, as well as some stuff I hadn't even considered. There's honestly a lot I agree with there, plus likely a tad more on top of that once the sting of criticism lessens and I can more honestly internalize it.
And even the stuff I don't agree with, reconciling why hones one's perspective. Thanks a ton, ename.
