I think if we are playing as an asshole MC, he should harsher to his mom, tell her she didn't do it for him, she did it because she liked it or something. Him instantly forgiving her makes total sense for a nicer guy run, but a full on dickhead run, it seems out of character, I think he would be more bitter.

that would be an express ticket to getting slapped in the face. Hell, Killian probably wouldn't bat an eye if he found out Edwin was fucking Mina (well, maybe he would but he'd hide it well). If Edwin hurt Vicky though, Killian would probably actually slug him.

Ok, I'm fine with it causing a rift between MC and Killian, there are a lot of story opportunities there. In fact, considering that MC was the one who kept bullies from bothering Killian, him trying to beat him up would be an interesting thing. Also, the MC could remind him that she's his mother, not Killian, etc etc. Play him really bitter and angry.

I mean, bitter and angry seems to be a big part of it whether you play him nice or mean. And you can also have him choose to watch the videos of her, not for arousal purposes, but seemingly as an obsession. He sees flashes of the things she did in those videos when he looks at the other girls. It makes sense that a more asshole MC would be holding anger and resentment towards her. It almost felt like a major narrative choice was taken away when he instantly forgave her.

Also, I really don't see her slapping him. She'd be crushed, not enraged. I definitely think it would be one of the most emotionally devastating choices the game could present.

tbh since I started, the "Asshole" trait felt like a slight misnomer, cuz while Edwin definitely gets more rude thoughts and commentary with it, the reality is the Asshole trait makes him more of a sadist, but fully committed to his inner desires instead of trying to hold them back. He smiles like a kid at Christmas when people get sexually abused, uses more derogatory language, etc. Edwin can still be a good person while still being an "Asshole", and that's why I think it's a bit of a misnomer.

Tbh, I didn't specifically even mean the asshole trait. You can play him like an asshole without having that trait. It's more about the choices you make. I think an MC who has shown more anger and such should at least have the option to lash out at the moment or something. When been playing this absolute dickhead the whole game but then he just forgives her immediately, I dunno, it just feels really out of character.

It is a possibility what you are saying, but I never was a fan of piercings, so it is nice Hana does not have them. Small piercings ok, can be accepted, but big piercings or some places on the body, no thank you. The great work by TD and GIL is already visible in Hana, since there are quite a number of players who cannot stand tattoos or the degree of how many tattoos Hana has, but still have Hana as a favourite LI.

Edwin doesn't find sexual pleasure in the standard sense when it comes to his mom's porno collection. He doesn't get an erection and he doesn't masturbate; he just watches like it's a sad movie flick.

Hi! That is not quite correct. While there are days when Edwin just sadness binges his Mom´s porn collection, there are also days he strokes the chicken to it.

What Edwin is going through with Victoria can be simply described as cognitive dissonance. He wants to get to the bottom of why and what prompted Victoria to go into the sex industry and has even started to believe that his behavior as a child is the reason. At the same time, he is afraid that his image of her sacrifice will fall apart (when she was filming before meeting Donovan) and most likely is afraid to see her happy expression on her first shoot with Donovan.

What's also important is that Edwin now wants to know what made Victoria try to confess her past. He doesn't know it yet, but it's safe to assume that Victoria chose not to betray Ian when faced with two options (giving in to Grace's blackmail and betraying Ian, or telling Edwin about her past upfront so Grace wouldn't have power over her), and that says a lot about Victoria. Although, that could just be the tip of the iceberg compared to what happened between Vicky and Chuck, who knows.
It will also be interesting to see what Ian will do when he finds out that his mother tried to blackmail Victoria.

The scene below shows that Edwin hopes that Vicky won't tell him, but his expression tells a different story (or I'm just imagining things):

Of course, many people live by the principle "Ignorance is bliss" and perhaps deleting the videos is a good option for them. As for me, no matter which way (Sadistic or "Saint") you play the game, this choice is not for me in both cases. Earlier, Edwin promised himself that at some point he would have a heart-to-heart talk with Victoria and only then would he put an end to this and never watch the videos with her again. Edwin always tries to get to the bottom of things, even if the case itself seems absurd. That moment has not yet arrived.

Edwin has watched the videos (some at least) for over a decade, before he joined the club he was literally sitting in his apartment on a normal day watching them (and saying how often/long he's been doing it), the video (we saw last time) was not blurred for him especially after he meets with the person who produced/shot it. Even beyond that there is absolutely no reason to keep the videos, are they required to have a conversation with Victoria? Is he unable to talk to the porn producer again without them? Are they somehow (but Edwin has missed it for a decade) the key to connecting chuck to all this? Even if Edwin chooses to resolve everything that can still be done without having decades old .avi files of the porn in question

Edit: also you could do a simialr blurring (or not show them to people who delete) for any future Victoria scenes so it wouldn't even be wasting time in a creative sense.

Edwin watches the tape (and others) a whole lot between then and the start of the game

Chuck doesn't want to just force bad things onto women he sees as outlets of pleasure, he wants to lord over them. Like with Sophie, Abel taunts him in that he could just give her for a week, no strings attached, but Chuck doesn't want that. He wants to thoroughly beat her in Chess, show he's better than her, before taking her.

The most disturbing thing is Chuck seems to be able to completely separate his desires with his social graces with other people. I think he genuinely likes Edwin and sees part of himself in him, it just happens that he got a taste of Victoria first.

He wants to thoroughly beat her in Chess, show he's better than her, before taking her.

I would be shocked if that isnt what happend, its almost outright confirmed with the flashback to the scene showing the security camera (chuck loves watching) but not who is behind it (financially or literally), combined with the fact that Charles told Grace "everything" and she is calling her whore etc I dont see many other things that fit all 3 things (who was watching, who would tell grace, what could Victoria have done to be a whore in her eyes).

Big agree on the last paragraph and it goes way way beyond just separating them from the social situation, he is able to more or less completely ignore/suppress/not act on his plentiful urges even when Sophie's bullshit magic perfume is in play (one of the reasons she says chuck is legitimately frightening). I could easily see him having done stuff with Victoria both before he met and during Edwin's HS years, without a hint of maliciousness towards Edwin.

He has these tapes, but he most likely watched them once and that is the reason why he does not remember them well. But those tapes that were before meeting Donovan, he watched regularly, because it fits with his beliefs.

While a teenager =/= Over a decade. Are you saying he saw first video when he was 11 or 12? I think you need more specifics, otherwise your memory may be a little blurry

I thought about that too. The question is, will Edwin turn a blind eye to it? No matter how well Chuck treats him now, it will fade into the background if Edwin finds out what happened in the past. If anything serious happened at all.

Pretty sure the blurry thing is a hint of mental block/denial Edwin has for that particular video. He does it, (sub)consciously because the image of Victoria actually clearly enjoying that fuck doesn't match with the narrative he's built up in his head to deal with the fact his mom was doing porn. He tells himself it was just sacrifice she made to ensure his well-being, and not something she could possibly like in the slightest.

He probably also avoided watching that video again for this very reason, so his memory of it may be literally quite blurry after all the time has passed, especially with all the effort not to remember it.

Hello all, TD here, and so is Summer!

All told, the update sits at 1,931 statics, 50 animations, and 40,384 words.

That amounts to 200 statics even, 7 animations, and 3,631 words over the past three weeks.

Honestly, not our proudest report. That is well below our weekly average. Work's been getting done, but little hiccups have added up.

For transparency, GIL and I work closely. I write every day, give GIL a script in the morning, and he hands me a batch of images a night. I usually keep a few days ahead, in case I get writer's block or some of my weekly obligations get in the way. It's not a long rope, but we find it’s the sweet point for on-the-fly adjustments and two-way creative input.

This dev cycle, we found ourselves a bit out of sync for a better part of a week and some change. I could never get quite ahead. Some of it was the usual friction (work-related snafus, reshoots, HS Studio being a bitch), but there was also quite a few half days that GIL didn't have a solid script to work on for various reasons that is the fault of my own.

Thankfully, we found our rhythm over the last week, but we nevertheless feel guilty about it. Especially with so much of the update still left in front of us.

The good news is, we're about to close out the final major scene of Exhibition 3's free roam. Anyone wanting a continuation of the Lucy stuff from Felicia's art exhibition will only have to wait for this update. GIL made most of the animations months ago, in one of his lust-demon fugue states. That always entails quality, but I of course had to put my grubby mark on it too. It’s at 10 total animations (more than our report because a lot of it was counted months ago when he made it) and will have another couple by the time we finish tomorrow. For those not interested in the school teacher, there are other ways to wrap up the free roam. I believe I mentioned Hana and Kat in previous diaries.

After that, we have a big scene to kick off the decadent evening and we’ll finally be onto the exhibition proper. I’ll leave the details of that for later.
