My party member is Daisy, it first started after the fight with the "Deep one" and "Tentacle". I couldn't leave the cave for some reason and at some point, while trying to leave the cave Daisy just dissapeared out of my party from the side bar. I tried to save and reload, but the save won't even load and I'm stuck on the loading screen. I tried to load older save and I got out of the eldritch cave, but same thing happened on the map outside of eldritch cave. Dunno how else can I describe it.
i was about to post this my self i have the same issue over that deep one and tentacle beat the boss and its just stuck on the fighting screen and now my save is so mess up i had to delete it cause daisy was gone and i was in some other area i think the forest

not even sure what cause that also random freezes while scrolling up or down text when reading

edit: To proceed from building a room, you must pick the build menu on the left above the compas.
For crashes, it has something to do with scrollbars

Can't save and with the random freezes it's completely unplayable. I click save and it shows up in the list, but immediately loading it freezes the game and just going between different tabs the save disappears. Tried running as Admin thinking it was a permissions issue, it didn't help. Also the X on the save tab doesn't work. Game likes to freeze if i click and drag the scroll bar down and then back up to the top.

Tracked down and deleted the save folder and that seems to take care of the save related issues atleast. Saves are in:
C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\LocalLow\Shark Bit Games\Path to Ascension
I deleted the whole Shark Bit Games folder which worked for me

I really wanted to love this game but until the dev fixes the constant freezing, it's completely unplayable. I spent probably 3 hours working my way through, saving regularly, until it froze, I closed and re-opened, and my saves were gone. I will not play again unless these major bugs are fixed.

Yeah I downloaded the win version 2.9 and it is still freezing. Everything else works. If the dev fixes the freezing than I would love to continue playing

Hey guys! I can't really answer all comments since I was last here, because that was a long time ago. So, I will keep this short: lots of fixes to the stuff pointed out in this thread! Most important of all is the scrollbar nonsense (this was a thing I was waiting on Unity to actually fix, it was stuff on their side), and I think I found out why the freezes and crashes were happening (it was combat stuff). HOPEFULLY, the game is fucking playable now. I am so sorry about its sorry state since the UI changes.

The fixes and what the new update is about is why the absence was so long, though things progressed as usual over at Patreon. I thank you all for playing and for your patience thus far! The updates from now on will be on fleshing out Allurgard, adding the stuff missing, and then I will be dutifully polishing the game and text. It will be lighter and easier to manage stuff, I hope.

Edit; By the way, if anyone who is having the freezing problem still is after this update, please send me a message on the game's Patreon, so I can hook you up with a special build, so that I can pinpoint the problem. I genuinely haven't had any freezes when I played, so I need someone who is so that I can get some important backlogs to fix this shit.

PtA 3.0 - Allurgard's Main Story’s End!
Content
  • Added the last event for the path where you kill both gods. Not much here in comparison to the others, honestly. There will be a bit more later when I get back to add the character’s reaction to the ends and stuff.
  • Added the epilogue for Allugard. It shows the consequences of some of the stuff already added and completed in Allurgard. But this is also bare for now, since it will be filled later when all the other optional stuff of Allurgard is done.
  • Two new areas, but they are both only one room, since they are meant as saving points between the lengthy ending events.
  • Music is back! New music for the epilogue and main menu!
  • 23 NEW SKILLS! That’s motherfucking right! Finally, I am going to be working on fixing this broken ass combat system. Already begun, actually! Skills are divided into 3 subclass for every class, with 3 skills each. The Warrior and Mage classes are both lacking on subclass each, since I ran out of ideas. Will get to those later. But with these extra tools it should be easier to get through the bosses, and I will feel more comfortable designing the enemies I passed over until now.
  • 14 New status effects! All have to do with the skills, basically. But I felt this deserved its own topic, cause fuck that’s a lot!
Fixes
  • Fixed the combat screen hiding the generated choices behind other UI Elements, stopping you from being able to click them.
  • Fixed a problem where horizontal choices selections for subsequent rows were triggering the choices from preview rows instead of the right ones. Jesus, did this make any sense to anyone?
  • Fixed a bug where a party of more than one character would skip the next character's turn if they were fighting more than one opponent. There was a repeat method in the target selector when used for basic attacks.
  • Fixed the healing message being entirely blue instead of just the numbers.
  • Fixed a major memory leak problem happening with after every combat. This used to not be a problem, but I forgot to fix it after the whole UI change.
  • Also fixed a duplicate line of the Status effect coding which might have been causing some crashes.
  • Skill damage now properly takes into account the equipment's spell efficiency. Also spell efficiency renamed to skill efficiency to avoid confusion, since it affects all skills not just the ones flavored as magic.
  • Fixed party card on the info panel stretching past the panel's bounds. Also fixed some other properties around the UI here to make it all look nicer.
  • Fixed an oversight that led to status effects triggering their end twice.
  • Fixed the scrollbar for real this time. Unity had generated an object from its old UI stuff that was interfering with the new UI, it's taken care of now. No more crashes from moving the scrollbar or random freezes.
  • Re-implemented the music. Solely because I wanted some sad shit to play on the epilogue. Seriously, I forgot I had removed it during the UI change, oops. On that-
  • Fixed the configurations not saving properly. Forgot to remove a thing I used to debug, my bad!

Content:

  • Added Meatfang as an NPC where you first met her if you did not attack her.
  • Added Whitewood as an NPC in the Sacred Glade if you helped them.
  • Added the option to interrogate Whitewood about Meatfang's accusations. This option is present in both the event where you free Whitewood and when talking to them in the Sacred Glade.
  • Added a new power option in the debug menu. Just for the domination aspect for testing purposes.
  • Added the Grimwood Confrontation event that begins the end of the Allurgard storyline.
  • Added The Reveal event, confront Grimwood and then return to the Sacred Glade to trigger this. This event can end the story depending on your choices (this particular ending is missing a bit in comparison with the other though. Will be fixed later.).
  • Added the Whitewood Confrontation event that basically ends Allurgard's story, without taking into account the epilogues that will come later.
Fix:
  • Fixed wrong image displayed in Whitewood Forest area.
  • Fixed an error happening to one of the game fonts (Unity fuck up, not mine, I swear!). Should fix some crashes, methinks?
  • God menu now displays the aspect scores properly.
  • Fixed Saves not doing anything with the name you typed for them.(Oops)
  • Fixed text not being shown in the text field of the save menu. Also, made it so hotkeys are non-functional while typing there.
  • Changed a bit the room title's look in the UI.
  • Fixed a few useless repeated menu methods.
  • Changed the page label to be more readable.
  • Fixed the Beyond information page displaying inaccurate Power values.
  • Put a trigger for the Lust deed in the Minion Camp event.
  • Decreased size of unequip buttons in the party menu.
  • Tweaked the look of the popup box.
  • Fixed save loading error when using the Disgusting Staff and Eldritch Mail. Your saves with them should still work, the mistake was just the game not loading the status of the items properly, nothing about the saves being corrupted or anything like that.

This is still functionally unplayable. Transitioning between zones resets XP down to 20/100 making levelling essentially impossible.

Well... It's better than getting crashes at the character creation stage when you select one of the settings and the game just closes. And after each launch it crashes from a different setting.

Well... It's better than getting crashes at the character creation stage when you select one of the settings and the game just closes. And after each launch it crashes from a different setting.
It might be better in the sense of "the dev is getting closer to an actually working version"
But either way it is still broken to the point a human can't play it.

So this means this game has been in development for at least 3 years...

And never through its entire development has it actually been playable.
It is extremely broken.

Dev needs to realize that after 3 years of failing to make the game playable that maybe he lacks the programming skill to make a working Unity game.
They should dump it for an easier to use engine like renpy or even RPGM (as much as I hate that engine, it does provide hand holding for the game dev).

As well as probably get a partner who would handle the coding for them while they focus on writing and art.

You know why I put up with this game and it's issue, there are other games like this with as much bugs and issues. Because I still miss "Apotheosis" and basically scower the site for any games like that. Once you get spoiled by god tier games and look for more, you realize you can't demand that same level from every game so you start to put with anything wrong with the games you find.

As a fan of transformation content, I would like to ask... What is involved with the transformation tag ? Self transformation ? Transforming others. TF into monsters, or body part grow/shrink ?

I've been downloading this game periodically since it was posted here. I have already changed two computers and I still catch crashes at the character creation stage. It doesn't matter if it's an old computer from 2000-2010 or a ryzen 5 5600x with rtx 3060... Sometimes I would go through character creation but the game would crash somewhere a little further along. So I can say for sure that it is not because of the computer hardware, it is the crooked hands of the developer who can not do something normally.

Nobody knows because the game crashes so badly we haven't been able to play far enough to reach said content.
