Just to be clear, the renders aren't getting a rework so Jenna will still look the same on existing content. I'm just rewriting the code entirely to address technical issues as well as providing new mechanics and features to make the game more enjoyable. I'll be adding new content to round things off and character appearances will likely change a bit because I'll likely be using Blender's realtime render engine Eevee. Otherwise I'd be spending a lot of time not only rewriting the code but also long render times using Cycles which would drastically delay the update to In a Scent, which I want to avoid.

I'll likely redo the grading to make the renders feel a bit more unified since this game has renders from 3 different render engines and likely soon to be a 4th :KEK:

I can already see the promo material... "Featuring renders using 4 different engines, Iray, Octane, Cycles and Eevee!"

I'm also opening a burger joint where we make patties out of meat from 4 different animals :HideThePain:

You should get Todd Howard in to advertise, that sounds nearly like is Fallout 64 announcement.

"It's got 4 times the render material, it's got 16 times the delay and it's all brought to you in 480p because of people whining about large downloads due to still using dial up and ancient, outdated 32 and bit probably also running Windows 95"

I saw this on twitter, still I would like to ask if you can say something more about new content. Are you just planning on finishing plots that you left like Mayan or do you want to add some extra stories to one who were finished? Not gonna lie that Amy is one of my favourites.

What is the timeline for said rework?
Hard to give a timeline because recoding the entire game to fit into a new system leaves room for so many things to go wrong. On top of that I am planning on adding content using Blender's realtime engine while also using assets and character conversions from 2-3 year old files, anything can happen. My quick preliminary testing went great but I'd be naïve to assume it will all go smooth.

Just to give you an idea of what this recoding is. The original PT was such long and winding spaghetti code that I've quite often replaced a hundred lines of spaghetti code with 3-5 lines of big brain chatGPT code :HideThePain:

I'm hoping to get the Patreon versions within 2 months but anything after 2023 will be considered a hard failure.

Yes, I'm adding content to give the game a more polished and finished feeling, rather than the abrupt "You're done lol" it had before. I won't be introducing new characters or anything like that.

Keep in mind that Mayan's story is not a happy ending. It's the only char I truly left abrupt and unfinished because I got cold feet towards the end. Will see it through this time around.

Let me first tell you,
Sophie's model is literally one of the cutest as well as the hottest women model I've ever seen in AVNs. The yoga and Breakfast scene model is Chef's kiss!

All the Main girl's are really good!(well, except..... Alex)
I really liked Sophie, Dani, Amy's models and their stories were good too especially Well, all the above.(Amy's was hottest coz MILF! And You steal her)
i didn't think I will like Jenna but she was really cute in her story.

Daisy's story was a chore imo. Maria was only good in the first couple of times. Hikari was ok, like I didn't felt any connection with her like I felt with e.g. Jenna. And Alex..... well, I think you will obviously know why she's not as good or anyone like her in the first place.

The gym girls were Good to Ok range but I really wish you bring events coherency even in Non Main story girl's events, like a short ending to each gym girl in your rework?(just wishful thinking).
It was a Fun 2 day experience of the game I played.
Thx for making this and I will definitely try your 'In a Scent'

Keep in mind that Mayan's story is not a happy ending. It's the only char I truly left abrupt and unfinished because I got cold feet towards the end. Will see it through this time around.

Her story isn't happy. There is no "fixing her with love". She's been through too much for too long and is completely broken.

Ik, I read the comment. I was just talking about if he ever changed his mind(like first of all, It's a game, you can add some unrealess(?) Like he can still keep her broken(obviously less broken)in her ending but dependent on MC?, yk like her pillar for support.
When first introduced she was the first girl in the game I felt connected and thought her as cute.
I think people will approve if he add some illogical things in her development, like he saved her from something. He stays with her after that(the stepfather will be a perfect scapegoat) help her with the revenge with her stepfather , stop her from suiciding after the incident, have sex with her to erase some scars of her. Spend time with her in gym, coffee shop, her place. Gives her some lifelesson that nobody wants to die, even if you are consciously saying you wants to die, your subconscious is still and will always reject death.etc

Well even after this, the call is Domiek's. Not mine

He is adding Mayan's full bad ending, she isn't getting no happy end.

As long as we finally get to fuck her and ideally participate directly in that bad ending of hers, I'll be happy.

Deff can't see that happening here.

MC does a lot of odd things here but murder isn't one of them and I don't think she's surviving her ending considering how fucked up she is. Pretty sure she's going to snuff herself.

Let's hype this up a little bit:


Dev Talk - Personal Trainer RE Progress

Lots of progress and changes to report this time around. It's a nice change of pace from the prior monotonous vague "continued coding" reports.

Coding:
The rewrite is essentially complete. At this point, the last version of PT is completely playable with the new code base. I initially spent a few weeks creating new classes and functions to not only be able to implement new features, but to keep things as clean, robust and bug-free as possible. Along the way, I had discovered I would require creating further new functions to tackle unforeseen problems.

As of now, the new code is able to handle both static and random events with game progress in mind based on various conditions. This was important in order to create a sense of corruption progress with not only the main girls but also the miscellaneous characters throughout the game.

EEVEE:
Converting shaders from Cycles to EEVEE was an unknown for me. I was aware that there is a lot of common foundation between both render engines but wasn't aware of just how similar the shader setup was. I was able to convert all of the main characters and the miscellaneous characters quickly, which comes out to 24 characters. I've also converted half of the environments. This process is a bit tedious but overall a lot better than I expected.
I've also begun rendering new scenes. EEVEE is similar to Unreal Engine in terms of real-time rendering. It's been a treat to work in real-time.
Organization:
Having to go back to working on a sandbox game like PT, combined with the monstrosity that is the confusing nonsensical spaghetti code and non-linear work made me realize just how badly I needed a new organization system. I'd previously use a combination of Google sheets, sticky notes and the code editor to keep track of things. It worked out okayyy but I noticed that I wasted a lot of time thinking and prioritizing what to do next due to the scattered nature of this setup.

Now I use with a extension, synced across all of my devices. Holy shit did I not realize how much time I wasted on being so scattered brain until I implemented such a simple system.

I have a board for tasks and a separate ones for bug tracking. While implementing one thing, it's not uncommon to realize that something else also needs to be done or run into a bug. Now I can quickly toss it on the board and continue where I left off. It also makes distractions much easier to manage as I don't have to try to mentally keep track of what I was doing.

I was wondering how much actual time I was spending on actively working and started using a timer that I would pause the moment I was doing anything other than actively working. The results shocked me. After implementing this new organization method, combined with some other focused session and minimizing distraction implementations, my time tracked production has doubled over the past week. And this doesn't even take into account that the efficiency of the work itself has also drastically increased.

You know you're getting old when you start getting excited and nerding out about organization systems.

Update When?:
There's still quiet a lot of work to do, but I'm currently projecting to have a Patreon release before December, possibly earlier. Since I've rewritten the entire code from scratch, I'd like to do a Patreon release before Steam so that the new code can really be tested by as many people as possible. It would also give me time to work on implementing the Steam specific code in the meantime.
