Great game great pace loving it so far. However disagree with your view on piracy. Im an alpha tester, discord moderator and advertiser for a number of devs. Piracy actually helps to secure more supporters. Especially on sites like this. Many people me included support devs just to see there games finished. Not to influence it or get updates exclusively. Patreon is a site to support creators and always annoys me when devs are anti piracy dispite stating there game will always be free. Honestly use piracy to your advantage. With the right kind of perverted pirates on your side your reach can grow alot. I get it can be annoying sometimes to see you game leak extremely quickly but in the long run it will only help you. The more people that play the game and enjoy it the more supporters you will get. And if you ever need help gaining more supporters there are a fair few perverted pirates here who like me frequent alot of absolutely aweful sites for porn that have game pages. We will be happy to share the game or teasers and description of game all over the place to boost your numbers. Honestly its the only way of increasing support, patreon is not exactly adult game friendly. Really hard for perverted porn addicts to discover your game if its not atleast on a few adult sites aswell. This of course is just my view on the situation combined with my experience of helping devs advertise there games.
Yeah I can agree with the boosting popularity and help to secure more supporters, but it still doesn't have my consent, which is bad. Further, t feels unfair to patrons who do pledge intending to access the game/vn earlier than others. In my experience, the biggest leap in patron donations came when I did put the game on early access. I might be because it was a very big update. I am hoping, with enough financial stability, that I can release the game for free without early access.

Early access is great. Keep it other devs do. As i said majority of people pledge to see a game finished not to get updates first. Just look at dark silver, dots, lewdlab, luxee, veqvil, pandelo and t4bbo all there games leak dispite them having tiers on patreon. And piracy has helped them all. Ok so dark silver added drm and lost a shit tonne of support until he removed it from big brother. But majority of devs have tiers lock updates behind paywall and game still leaks. And most aside from ds support the pirating community as they see it as helping them gain money and support. Hell half of em are on this site and joke with people about it. A few add in little digs to the leakers in there games.

Let me ask you blooming developer, are you a student and at the same time make this game? So you have shit load of things to do and you need to squeeze some time in game making? Thats why we had to wait so long for next update? If thats the way it is with you, then we cannot expect you to have the same output as teams of developpers working full time on one or couple of projects at a time. I hope that at some point in the future you will work full time on your projects and will secure for yourself wide stream of money going into your pocket.

Also I would be absolutely grateful if you can share the game! The whole reason why this game started out free in the beginning was because some members on this site convinced me

That's exactly why. I am a college student! I can't afford student life with this project

I cannot be sure for their thoughts about it, but it should be possible couse they do not make your games. It is your property and what you do with it is up to you. Those without any right over games they publish here should not have any right to get any money from that, you as a developer have rights over your own property. It is but a tought, but is should help blooming developers on the long run to greatness. Which I presume is something good for this site too.
I need to add only one thing, this is very good for both Dev and Forum, for Dev, will be a good mirror to advertise your game and increase new Patrons, and for the Forum to keep and increase players, always when we join our forces, in the end we will be stronger ;););)

I don't like my game being pirated.
Said every developer since the dawn of gaming.

Oh I see... What is drm ?
Digital rights management.

It's a way of slowing down piracy, you'll never stop it. People have tried, it gets cracked in the end.

Hosting it on a server instead of putting it up for download would slow it down. It would mean someone would have to crack it in order to pirate it.

The problem there, like someone said above, it also costs some devs a bunch of patrons.

I'd weigh up the pros and cons first though. A lot of pirates decide to patron some of the games they play, without your game being here you won't get noticed by them. Sure you can rely on word of mouth but that usually spreads through sites like this so unless you are going to pay for advertising you won't get much through traffic.

On the one hand you will probably find the more annoying you make pirating your game the less likely people will bother cracking it. On the other you won't have as many people see your work it will literally just be your patrons you have now and if you get extremely lucky they might know people who will follow them.

Drm is copyright protection. Lets devs track the leakers so they can ban them. Its also a major game killer and is pretty useless due to all the einsteins on this site and others.
I personally think that drm is good if used correctly, not to ban pirates but to remind them to advertise the game and its developer. If it was used in this way, then we secure some potential advertisers without much work. I cannot be sure though if this is plausible

I get the whole debate about piracy vs. patronage. I had someone proclaim to me this wasn't a piracy site but an advertising site for the developers. Heh. Whatever helps people sleep.

Pirated copies of stuff have happened throughout time. No way to stop it, but that doesn't mean you have to love it.

On the other hand, I can fully attest that I was just patronizing one game developer (Cypress) and was simply browsing for other similar games when I came upon this site, Now I patronize 19 games. I don't think this situation is unique, either.

People latch onto a creative idea and a number of them will be eager to support the creator because that shows their appreciation and encouragement for completion of the current game and production of future ones.

It's not a perfect system. Some people just sit here and only get free stuff. And there is way too much bitching about when a new update is coming out (especially from people who are not supporters, as if they will somehow magically transform into one upon the next update).

But, it's a system that can work in your favor if you figure out, as others have suggested, how to build your tiers with your patrons.

Plenty of high income producers still have their stuff released here "too soon". They manage to keep their patrons in spite of and, in some cases, because of sites like this.

Good luck in any case!
