That is, of course, all speculation as no actual reason was supplied so all we can do is fill in the gaps ourselves (if we are interested enough to do so). I think the Patreon message was edited after I posted it here to remove the "increased risks of working with games in this genre" bit, which pretty much leaves just the "personal issues" part. With that considered though, it does call into question the validity of the statement - did the dev change his mind on the reasons, or on how much he wanted to tell people, or was he just putting in anything as an "excuse" and then realised that that one would only work if the genre was something like incest...? (Potentially he originally meant "genre" to cover AVNs as a whole, as that would at least make a bit of sense in the current climate.)

While it might seem like he is being vague if you focus on one sentence of his post, the rest makes it very clear. He already said his wife knows about his development of these games. He wasn't having sleepless nights because of some secret conspiracy, it was because development was causing stress.

I think it was the stress of developing a game with having a full time job and family were just to much . And so they should be. F95 followers were kind a cruel to him on pressing for more content and still maintain his month or so delivery date. He "DEV" is so committed to his word that he sacrificed his mental health to deliver. The subscriber rate on Patreon was good and growing... but at what cost. This is a single developer... no help. Just my thoughts...

I don't recall any one of us here asking Dimajio/SadPepper for more content per release. Especially after he had to rush EtBA to completion because he tried to go too wide.

I think the most obvious culprit is SadPepper's partnership with that publisher for Steam; they probably gave him a stipend to work with for his new game (PE2), so the dev doesn't feel pressured to maintain a monthly schedule anymore since he is not beholden to his Patrons.

The deleted statement bit is damning evidence to support this, as he clearly tried to give an excuse that didn't make any sense (NTR games weren't targeted on Steam, just "immoral" AVNs with more "advanced" fetishes) and then backtracked.

Burnout definitely played a part in his decision, but SadPepper's games have been leaked sooner than liked for years now, I doubt that behaviour is what broke the camel's back.

The bit about this forum makes no sense either, if he's apparently going to blame his games being leaked here in one breath, but in another say that he'll just release the games here instead of anywhere else, and indeed, anywhere that generates income. In terms of the speculation though, you talked in your post about the pressures of making an NTR game and the criticism of PE2, neither of which were suggested in the Patreon update that I'd posted, hence me calling it out as speculation. You even prefaced part of it with "I think", which is clearly therefore speculation.

I'm not turning it into a conspiracy theory, I'm just saying not to read things into it that aren't there, which is pretty much the opposite! Again, why there would be any issues specifically with the NTR genre, I don't know, which is why I wondered if perhaps he meant AVNs in general, as there's some heat there lately. As I said, if it was incest or something like that that's specifically being attacked at the moment, that part of the original annoucement would have made a lot more sense. Reemmber, you're theone who started bringing outside thoughts into the reasoning, with your comments about the way PE2 was received, and criticisms of NTR games etc., so don't forget to heed your own advice as well

Burnout is for sure a part of the reason, but I have reason to believe the dev just needed an excuse to forgo the 1-month development schedule he became famous for - and the partnership with a publisher probably helped with that.

I don't mind SadPepper taking a break or stepping back from AVN development, but he started PE2 knowing he was on the brink - regardless of how I feel about PE2, that's not honorable behaviour.

Without any schedule given whatsoever. The vagueness implies almost certainly monthly releases are a thing of the past, and all we will have are his progress posts on F95 that will have no schedule either - so we can expect his future updates anywhere from 2 months to half a year.

And he started the game BEFORE announcing these changes, that's the part that rubs people the wrong way. There's no way he didn't know something was brewing only a month after publishing the first PE2 build.

in a way i agree with you. id rather he scrap his patreon rather than charging each month but slowly mia. if its 2 month or half a year, its not like he is charging us. if he does update im grateful he is doing it still despite free since no patreon

I think burnout is most probable reason for me,leaking of games on f95zone is not any vaible reason.I think monthly updates are pretty much voided him mentally and physcally,probably not having much time left for him learning new skills to upgrade his renders and animations.Netorare catagory is really having surged as more creators enter into the space.I hope he will come back oneday with some bangers.Really thankful to him for making such great games.

Maybe he's going the "Steam" route going forward, because Patreon is a shit show for adult content creators.
