I just unpledged, so this month charges have already gone through, which is fine. But some of his discord supporters are quite "not good" people. They complain when someone even rocks the boat by asking "when is the next update". Then calls everyone on f95 like leechers. I tried to say not everyone can afford to pledge and asking such a simple question, shouldn't require money just to find the answer. And by the way, I did pledge and I still didn't get my answer. So there is that. Jealous much? My pledges in one month is more than your one year pledges...it's fine..that's one less developer to spend money on. Yea, I deleted this game too. Even if its a good game, I can't stand a toxic environment.
There is no need to even worry about such people and the truth is that if it were not for F95 and those as they called "leeches", most of these developers would probably not earn even a few dollars on their games because their games would simply not be known to anyone, I myself am an example of the fact that if it were not for this forum, until today I would not know about the existence of some patreon or subscribestar and I am convinced that there are many more people like me, so developers and even their patrons should rather be grateful that such a forum exists because looking at the number our community here it is mainly thanks to us that their games become popular and have a chance to find supporters for their projects.
Also as with some games (even this one) I see a message like "We don't condone sharing of our Patron only content ..." it is for me a simple hypocrisy on the part of such developers because if it were not for this forum or other similar sites, then their games would not have a chance to gain any more popularity, so they should rather be grateful that such a forum exists because it is here that they can find potentially new patrons who later decide to financially support their projects.

Yeah, and here they actually had a NEW supporter and they treated him like trash. Lost both the supporter and his willingness to promote the game.

Now, when I go on other sites, I make SURE to trash the fucks who call us leeches, who have a poor showing on their responses on Patreon or SubscribeStar, not to mention the lack of info in the forums and piss-poor updates and progress. Not only do I do that with the particular game in question, but ANY OTHER game they may be involved in in ANY capacity.

After all - as I said earlier - why the fuck should I care about them when they give fuck-all about us?

Just finished my first playthrough and I enjoyed it. Normally at this point I'd pledge, but it seems like this thing is abandoned, but the dev doesn't want to admit it? Kind of fucked up. I might pledge if he puts out a big release in the near future, but otherwise I'll just chalk this one up as another "could have been good" game.

You'll see an update every 12-16 months usually 30 minutes of game play. Not worth supporting. He's just eating money.

I'm pretty sure the next update will be stellar, the problem is: when?? :(
I gave up on him on Patreon, but I'm always ready to pledge back if the update will actually be worth it.

Yeah. My experience is that when a dev has a long absence and then says "I am working on a great update, you'll get it in a month" that means:

1) They have not done any work at all, and are just now starting
2) They will actually try to make a good update, but it will take longer than they predict by at least 2x.

All porn game discords are like that every single one is an echo chamber suck fest. The only opinion you're allowed to have is that the game is perfect, the dev is god, and you are a subhuman bank.

first off lol subhuman bank lol. Second i am in both discords for both of this guys games. and i used to be a patreon in fact i was the 5th to pledge. So i guess i am what one might call and OG for this game at least lol. And yes both discords are toxic which is why i dont post in them anymore. And i stopped being a Patreon after the 2nd update because they was taking forever to come out. But if there is one thing i have to say about both of his VNs they are top notch some of the best i have played and get you invested in the chars pretty much from line one. at least that is my thoughts. But he admitted to us way back when he first started that he was a perfectionist and if he didnt like how something came out after he was done with it. He would scrap it and start over. Which is why he takes so long to put out updates. PLus he had other problems which i am not gonna post here cause honestly if he hasnt or wont tell ya then ya dont need to know them. but needless to say they hampered him some. and still might i dont know. I do know if he was more constant on the updates i would still be a patreon. and if he started to be more constant i would be again. Just my 2 cents all. which is probably all what i said is worth to some of ya lol.

I am replying to my own response from a few days ago, just to give an update. Anyway, the developer reached out to me and answered my questions. As for his discord community, even though I still feel they should learn to understand that their answers do make first impressions on new people like me, its not controllable.

Nobody can make anybody be nicer or be more humane. Someday I might repledge only because the developer seems like a nice person. I will refrain from judging further. Although I recently did tell all the developers I supported that I will be taking a break from Patreon and other pledging platforms, I will someday come back and pledge a more sane amount than I have in the past 2 months. I tend to dive head first into the fray and then realized I might of ran out of mana before reaching the final boss. And I guess it's also possible I judged this developer (final boss) based on his minions (no I am not calling his community a bunch of monsters)..this is just an analogy. From what the developer mentions, I dont think he thinks the same as the people who called f95 leechers...well I hope not.

And for those who don't know me. I basically pledged over $4000 in the past 2 months to a handful of developers that are all found here on f95. I had a budget of $10,000 this year just for these developers, but after the impression I got from that discord channel, it made me think, what if they are right. What if developers are milking me. It's not impossible? I should take a step back and take it even more slow. So instead I just canceled all my pledges. Whatever was charged, I already paid. I told all the developers, not to give me any of the tier benefits because I never pledged for tier benefits anyway. That is never my intention whenever I sponsor anything. If and when f95 needs a donation, I'll donate. At least with f95, I never felt attacked.

To be fair... those devs exist. But you can spot those quite easily. Bigger problem are the devs that are milking while having a cult-like following. There are discords that, if you ask about progress updates, will simply ban you as an answer (despite the discord being a pledge-benefit).
Worst I ever heard about is the discord of the guy who makes that "My New Family"-Game. A buddy of mine went there about a year ago to ask, if the dev will maybe ever go back to fix some stuff (like a broken animation or some dialogue lines that simply don't make any sense). But not in a confrontational way, just... asking... because he was curious. The answer was, that they (including the dev himself) threw all kinds of shit at him. He commented it as: He felt like he just stolled into a church in the middle of Sunday Mess, to ask why so many priests like little boys.

This devs' discord seems to simply fall under that category. But that he took the time to actually write you back is generally a good sign. Although I, myself, would never support a dev, who already makes four figures a month for a honey-select game, and still only produces one update per year. That's almost a full-time-job salary and it's honey select!

naaa come on ..u broke it not fixt it :(
Ask anybody in this goddamn thread if I'm wrong.
It's obvious at this point that he's milking his Patreon supporters, and hasn't posted anywhere in over 3 months except his Discord, the only place left that has people that think he'll still update the game.

Let's start speculating:
As far as I know, he's also one of the two guys who make Radiant (which I myself supported, until I realized their developement times). The Radiant patreon has - more or less - regular updates, maybe some of them are from this dev. And... yeah... that game also only got updated once since its release back in April 2020. Despite them making about $7k a month on Patreon alone, plus at least another $1k on subscribestar (They don't publicize their subscribestar-income. You can only see, that they reached their $1k goal).
So, assuming a 50/50 split, this dev makes at least $4k on Radiant, in addition to about $2k from his own Patreon+Subscribestar. For that kind of monthly income, I think you could expect some kind of full-time developement. So maybe he really is just that slow. The people a dev needs to care about (the paying kind), certainly doesn't seem to mind...

Well they are fulltime devs, or he is in case of this game, they left their day jobs midway to the second update (0.2) for Radiant iirc.
It's just a bit strange that the change to being fulltime devs, didn't change the realase speed of this game or Radiant...

As for the updates, they are basicialy just ''all is good, made nice progress'' from what i heard, as they don't give any eta's, or even saying what kind of work they made, like 3 secens completed, so much renders or animations done, so many still to do.
Makes the updates kind of useless imo.

I've said this before. If you contribute to a game you are supporting their development process without deliverables or any notion of control. Their process is entirely their own. If you are unhappy at any point you're free to cancel your sponsorship, but bitching about their process or their timelines is pointless. This is why I don't contribute to games until they are completed.

This happens to be a great game. I far prefer it to Radiant, which is also a excellent game. While nothing would make me happier than a regular release of both games, I realize that is entirely out of my control. So when/if we get an update to either game I'll enjoy it. Money comes when/if they complete either.
