I might be WWG's biggest shill and defender and I'll again defend him here, but i can admit when he is wrong. Yes, he missed his estimated release date. Some people are being too harsh with him missing his GUESS. I can admit that he isn't on point when he determines when he thinks his update will drop. as a matter of fact, i can admit he misses his estimate pretty often, but that's why it's called a guess or estimate. He tried to predict the release date 3 months in advance and the worst he has to show for it is being off by 1 week (if he doesn't need more time). For every time he underestimates his release, it's always been about a week. Some people are making a mountain out of an ant hill.

I know i'll get facepalmed by the haters who can't see that the delay isn't a major deal when compared to other devs description of a delay. When you consider the amount of content and how big the update is, it's should be understandable why the game is taking so long to make. He doesn't create dates and then releases when that date comes around with whatever is finished so far. Those games that make their own once a month or other month deadline can be finished playing through in 10 to 20 minutes usually. PV will take you a good few hours and i'm expecting this next update to take most players a full day, wake to sleep to finish.

Well said!! This great game deserves all the wait it takes.

It's only a week delay, as i acknowledged, he is running late on the update, but it's only a week. It shouldn't be hard to overlook 1 week. It's not like development time is getting longer without nothing to show for it. CH 12 is going to be twice as big as CH 11 and only 1 extra month of development time. If CH 13 is twice as big again and only 10 months to develop, it's statiscally a win. Every chapters increased development time to content ratio has been a win. Sure, i get it's not a win for you personally because you don't like the jokes and think it's a waste of time, i get that. Content is content though, he isn't just sitting around doing nothing though.

And if someone thinks that one or even two weeks of a delay is much.... There is a game out there which is 12 years in the making and has over half a billion crowd funding and still has child issues. Standard Quests not working, Servers randomly crashing, Collision Control not even close to working fine..... and many problems more.

What i wanted to say is, he may be a bit slow but he still delivers even if it takes a little bit of time. But i had no release, which wasn´t working.

In my case I think it will last until the next update, because I plan to masturbate with each render. I know I'm a genius.
By the way, I support you 100% my bro

Hahaha let him off the hook as usual, don’t be crying when he starts pushing yearly updates for PV and his new game.
If he was going to do that then he'd have already done it. There's plenty of devs who have proven that you can release yearly updates with only a couple of scenes and still retain subs. All without any side content being put out while they're "working on" the update.

When have I said he isn’t working on it though?

I just haven’t been happy with how the dev time has gotten so long and the play time is roughly the same as chapter 7 or 8

Time yourself playing chapter 8 then 11 and tell me the extra 3 months dev time actually made more playable content.

It’s a fucking VN not a sandbox with routes and mini games where it makes sense the dev time runs longer.

It’s just a bad sign for the next game. But then again at this rate PV won’t wrap up for 2 years lol

His original prediction might have been 3 months ago, but he reiterated that timeline in his last status update. He also then purposely waited until close to the very end of his deadline to announce the delay, when he almost certainly knew quite a bit sooner. At the very least, this was some pretty crappy communication. He's always had an issue with either poorly estimated timelines or poorly communicated delays, he's said plenty he hates giving deadlines then does and misses them lol. It's his full time job, he either needs to get better at understanding his workload or put more work in to hit his deadline. Think of it in a real world company setting, if I'm going to miss a deadline I gave my director; I either need to give him a heads up early on or have a good reason why it changed. Otherwise I'm in deep shit. Most people will keep supporting cause we love his game, but the guy needs to get better at this or he will burn bridges and scare off people from his new game who aren't invested in 10+ chapters.

I can't speak for the upcoming release but I agree with you on the assumption about previous chapters and the fact that it's mostly a kinetic novel so it clearly shouldn't take this much time unless he is prolonging his career, but I mean what can you expect from someone who talks about his next game 3,4 years before he is even going to start working on it, talk about cliffhangers and even that maybe a fake one. ATM nobody would believe he would make his next game like how he described it at that time.

Well, atleast the game is not abandoned. Can't really complaint about devs for being late in the business where many games are often left incomplete or, with weirdly rushed senseless endings. But this guy is not only continuing but improving as well as expanding the scope of his game with new characters and storylines. About this late thing, one can sure express disappointment but can't go too harsh given the dude isn't against the factory clock under our supervision, comrade.

I’m not sure you want to start comparing this to other games that have 2 month release cycles. Slippery slope, with sharp rocks at the bottom

Personally, I am happy to wait a little longer ,and get the ch12 version official directly. I'm in a need VPN country with poor Internet, and my hard drive hasn't been great in recent months.Download and install repeatedly. After playing the beta version, have to adjust the saves in the official version , not easy for me.I will wait patiently.

One way that Power Vacuum is different from many other games/VNs is that each chapter of PV has a satisfying amount of story advancement for all the characters. I think this is a double-edged sword however, because where any dev might just bump something to a later chapter in order to meet a deadline, WWG sticks to his story plan for the sake of the characters.

I think the lesson here is: don't plan a Christmas release for a large update. Sure, it would've been nice timing to play the update during the holidays, but I assume WWG has real world obligations and can't be tethered to his computer for all of December. Of course I'm disappointed but I'll get over it.

I love this game and you know it, I've defended the Dev a lot of the time and really since I'm not a patreon supporter the wait doesn't bother or affect me personally in the least.

But I said this all the way back to chapter 9 or 10 release, going for double each release is an UNSUSTAINABLE model, the ratio from content and wait time of chapter 11 was good I believe, he should have stuck with that one, sincerelly just going haywire with the amount of content is bad for the fans and worse for the dev, I mean, like how's it gonna go now? you said that dev now believes that a chapter 14 is now a posibility on the table, is it gonna be 15 gigs of content and who knows how much wait time on that one?

If there is going to be a chapter 14, then waiting two years from now for a completed tag is very likely.
