We don't know for sure, all he said is first week of May. that could be first 7 days or first full week which will be the 9th. honestly, if he isn't satisfied or can't meet his cutoff, i'm all for him taking another week. we've waited almost 5 months, what's a little more time to get the game to his vision. instead of releasing because people have expectations.
WWG has been pretty good about giving progress updates since I started following. He'll drop an new image or something on patreon

well this game went from being 3 month updates to 4 to 5. hopefully not 6 next time

The size of the updates have also become considerably larger and in my opinion the quality has increased as well.
Personally i don't care about the waiting, the things that i hate the most are the update that make download again all the game, with 5 or 10 min max of new content and then wait for a month or more.
But it seems that it is not the case for this game for what i can see on the previous uptdate. Or i hope so
