I have, I've posted in the coc2 thread a few times. Thing is, Matey has made a lot of progress in less than a year of working on this new game. So I have hope, I gave him a small amount of money, and now I'll wait to see if I deem it a worthwhile investment to give more money.

Dont know whats happening in this thread, dont care tbh, read some of it but not all of it. I really liked where the game was going, a side-scroller. Shame he change it once more to a 3D third person view from your shoulder (yes I know the patrons voted for that, a shame all the same)

People will share when the time comes. This guy is one of the rare devs that actually works on his game actively, so yeah, just be patient and don't be like the dude a few replies above that cried about the dev locking most of his discord for supporters only.

due to the overwhelming request, the 2D spinoff (this game) will be reconstructed after the current project is done, so it's technically on hold, like the other game, Project Unknown.

Jokes aside, yes, he put the first one on Hold and will resume development once he as sufficient budget and maybe a small team to help him to make his dream game, this one was nuked due to a combination of bad luck and dumbness on his part, that he fully acknowledged and has, IMO, already recovered from with the quality of the new game he's about to show publicly, this in less than a year...meaning that in roughly 2 years this guy has pushed 3 playable builds of 3 different projects, the one that is being worked on after an almost total loss of assets...which is impressive by itself...

The reality is that creating a game this complex takes time (a lot of examples out there), expecially if you are solo, he's making progress, as anyone who follows his development has already told in this and the other thread, and you can even see the actual progress for free by joining his Discord: the update and wip channels are open to anyone, so concept arts and screenshots/gameplay videos are free to look at, as is the roadmap.

So yeah...I read the complains and I think that none of those complaining here have actually taken a step outside this site to get a little more informed on the project...

Looks fantastic... and wayy too ambitious. Don't want to be pessimistic but it certainly feels like a project that will either get stuck in dev hell or be finished in 10 years. Here's hoping he'll prove me wrong.

Well, if that happens, people simply move on. All you can do is hope for the best and if your expectatons aren't met, then you go again with a new developer.

Otherwise, you end up like that one dude above that had a nuclear meltdown and life is simply too short for that level of commitment on the Internet. Always solid advice to temper your expectations and you'll rarely be dissapointed if you don't overhype.

For me personally, his work flow and overall progress is enough to continue support. He's done more work in the last year over a handful of projects by himself than the entire operation lovecraft team that created a mediocre pay to play seasonal game with zeor content and laggy online with a bunch of dudes jerking it.

So when I consider what he's put out and weigh it against some of the more obvious scam developers like PH I tend to be pretty lax on the hardware failure that killed the 2d project for now. I personally don't care much for 2d so him making the switch via vote just gave me more reason to support until a time comes when it's no longer needed or expectations aren't being met.

Either that, or is gonna be an empty, dead and pointless open world. It happens with triple A studios, how in the hell is he going to make this any time soon with an indie team, yet alone by himself?

Don't get me wrong, he seems very good at the programming side of things and has great taste for menus, interface, design, basing it all in games like Metal Gear or The Division. But that won't get him far if he doesn't assemble a team of at least 20 people for a game with such scope.
