I went ahead and looked at the twitter. (I haven't looked at anything about this game since near the beginning).
Which sort of reminds me of like the phenomena; when you own a pet fish, you don't really realize how much they're growing if you look at it every day, but that one family member that rarely visits is always shocked at how big the fish has grown. I'm quite shocked at how many interesting mechanics have been implemented in their demo videos on Twitter. It's clear that it never was fast growing, but the quality is there, and the dev is also likely getting much faster at learning new mechanics and features with development. It's quite exciting to think what the dev might add later on.
While I'm sure, plenty of people here do already realize that this dev has always had an interest in these advanced combat mechanics and such, which clearly seems like a main inspiration for the game. It's also clear that many people among F95 or just in general aren't familiar with the dev's mentality on that, as well as potentially not at first seeing how much time it takes to learn to replicate or in some cases fully create these advanced mechanics from scratch, even if it meant sacrificing progress on NSFW aspects of the game.
Essentially, I understand the frustration that was shown from both sides. The people outside looking at this project can't wait to play this unique NSFW game and might feel frustrated by the time it takes or the lack of NSFW content, then some people were getting a little scared of the all too common project abandonment, so it's understandable some people might have gotten a little heated, especially if they've put money into Patreon. (Granted I see that we cleared that up, above my post). As I said, I can also see the developer's frustration, they found a hobby of developing and learning how to create unique game mechanics and slowly build upon it, while also having an interest for the NSFW features. The dev can only work so fast, even if they were making good money. However, the dev seems to face various backlash from the past or over misunderstandings while trying to push forward and get a genuinely unique game out and working. I think this step to closing down the Patreon and pushing towards that steam release is going to make a lot of people happy. While also avoiding any potential platform issues. All in all, I'm glad to see what's happened with this project and I think we should take a step back and realize that and just show some support and excitement. Positivity promotes productivity.
