Well thats a very "fuck you I got mine" attitude you got there.

Honestly, F95 has become my "what do people think of this game" source as of late. Too many games pull this crap nowadays that a quick jaunt over here to see what other people are saying helps me decide if I should actually pledge or not.
Frankly i'm happy people are pissed about the scam. If not for people being pissed, if they had all just unsubbed and disappeared into the aether, i'd have no clue what was going on with some of these games.

It's less "I hope Eromancer sees us being upset and has a long, hard think about what they've done" and more "Buyer beware" for prospective patrons.
Except he's done. He's making 17k. He doesn't need more patrons. So the "buyer beware" is useless.

At this point? Those who want to give him money will still give him money no matter what, and those who don't will not.

Being upset at this guy will not change anything.

The only proper thing to do? Tell people to support the ones you think is worth supporting.

It's fine to criticize the game. It's fine to tell people that this dev isn't "working" and is milking his patrons.

But why be upset at it? It doesn't make sense. Some people in here act like Eromancer personally owes them their mortgage and shit. Like bruh, relax...

This is pretty much how I've felt about it for the longest time. Sure, I was pretty burnt when I slowly discovered that Malice and the Machine wasn't going to be going anywhere, especially after how promising it looked from the early days, but people really do just have to move on instead of whining endlessly as it gets pretty tiresome, even more so just to see this thread pop up again to see its people bitching for the umpteenth time. Understandable to an extent, sure, and I understand people want to vent or voice their frustrations, but at this point its just as annoying as the fact that Eromancer has been at this as long as he has.

Really, the only way any of this frustration will EVER matter is if you can put out a large enough message so that people don't get hoodwinked in the future, or can actually convince enough people that what he is creating isn't worth the money being put into it, which on F95 is going to mean fuck all considering the vast majority here are going to be playing products for free, and maybe at most supporting the occasional gem they really enjoy.

Obviously you're all welcome to complain and spew vitriol as much as like so long as the forum allows it, but its ultimately not really something that's going to do anything anytime soon, something made clear enough back on ULMF when Eromancer still raked in cash despite having a pretty public falling out on that forum ages ago.

See? I started making my game because some Devs on Patreon went full-on just like this, among other reasons (one of the biggest was Sony censoring titties, too). Eromancer, Monster Girl Island, Summertime Saga, etc. All people who make 15k+ (the guy from mgi made at one point 30k+. THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. And for what?).

So I decided I wanted some of that money for myself. And I sat back, went on Youtube, went on free websites where they teach you coding, downloaded Blender, ren'py, Unity, etc., played around until I now have something quite solid.

I encourage everyone to do the same.

Getting upset at people making money isn't gonna stop them from making money. However? You can make a game that will make *you* money and hopefully bring some of their supporters to your side since you'll totally be doing a better job than them, right?

I know full well how hard it is to make an actual game from scratch in engines like Unity. Ren'Py is already hard enough even if "all you do is take pictures" and wait for renders. People don't seem to realize the amount of work that goes behind making games. They think everything is ready and just have to put the puppets having sex, slap incest and ntr and boom, it's done. If it were so easy then why don't they make a game, too?

It took me 4 years to build the framework for my own game. By that I mean something that works, one and two where I can "easily" make content and add it to the game without wasting weeks of my time. It's the main reason why I still haven't released any info about it yet, because if I do like everyone else and release something at the starting state, then they'll trucidate me while I work on the engine proper where I'm stressing my whole goddamn life while having nothing to show for it.

"Guys, I'm working on the inventory system, please get off my back will you?" "Show us!" "Show you what? My spaghetti code? Nothing works yet."

For example, now it takes me a whole week to create a costume for the 3D avatar. From scratch to added and working in game. Before that it took me 2 months. Mind you, that's just the costume. I'm not counting coding, events, items, monsters, npcs, music, texts, bug fixing, socializing with your patrons on discord, marketing, etc. That's all shit you have to do, alone, in the span between your updates. If your updates are too long, people bitch. If they're too short? People still bitch.

If you hire other people to do shit for you? That's great. You can focus on other things and accelerate development but you still have to take what the other guy made and make sure it works before adding it in. It's not plug-and-play.

And Unity is a finicky engine. Sometimes everything seems to work and boom, nothing works anymore. Just because fuck you.

I think the main culprit here is the lack of communication. Why Eromancer's patrons are OK giving him their money up until now and why the pirates here are frustrated is probably because Patrons know what's going on and people here are kept in the dark.

So what’s new in this update
New bugs fixed, but no animations or content whatsoever -- maybe a hard pass for you, but personally? I'll wait 'til June and see if the game is really worth the time going forward

Never tried this game before, just skimmed the thread and I totally understand why people are pissed that these dipshits are making money for doing nothing. This gameplay is terrible but that artstyle is great. It's a shame these "devs" are too fucking retarded to realize they could be making WAY more money if they'd actually do something with this instead of just settling for whatever they can milk out of financially illiterate porn addicts. If I ever threw away a money making opportunity the way these guys have I'd straight up kill myself
well i ask you. a lot of money for doing nothing OR a lot more money for doing a lot of hard work? most people would choose the former

What's impressive is your inability to understand context.
my guy, you almost sounded like the other troll(not calling you one do not worry). people getting angry at scammers IS VALID. it's a bit more vague but it is closely the same as empty promises. people paying money without getting what they are letting to believe what's going to be made. not to mention, its effects on the industry as well. not just this singular case.

it is normal to be upset from people taking advantage of others. does it change anything? no, and that's okay. tbh most of the time the "upsetness" here is more of a comedy for us at this point. updates that doesn't even hit the bare minimum lol.
let the upset people be a huge buyer beware sign for this thread like sirretinee said as a lot of people use this forums as a means to scout what to pledge on. to help other fellow degenerates lmao.

(the buyer beware is to prevent people wasting money it's not useless...)

the main culprit here is that they don't care. they make money already so why make effort? let's not get distracted from that.

I gotcha, fam.

And I ain't saying the contrary.

I'm just saying that there's A LOT of work going on behind the scenes, you know? We can't just add 25 sex animations just like that and call it a day. This isn't a 2D RPGM game made with RTP assets and you just draw one picture a week.

If the dev is like, no updates, no communications, no nothing for MONTHS, then yes, I figure fuck him and his shit. But at least this one is releasing bug fixes and seems active on his community.

Like I said, personally I'm trying to mitigate this problem by completing most of my game and have a semi-solid system pipeline going on, but even then I figure I won't be able to make more than 4~5 "big requests" a month. Either an animation, a costume, an NPC, plus some items, events, traps and other easier shit is probably the most I can do alone. So I understand the delays.

This shit does take time. A LOT of time. So I figure, if the patrons are OK with it then who am I to be this upset on something I don't even support?

Look, I understand if people were this pissed at this other dev who is making a 2D game and raking in 10k+ while releasing waterdrop updates, paywalling everything and working on like 3 games at the same time. Plus being an absolute asshat to everyone, not just pirates but also his patrons, too. I'm like "OK his supporters are masochists, fuck this guy to hell and back". But this guy here ain't quite at that point yet, though.

oh im completely aware of the dev hell and struggles. but i honestly think they are at the point of not giving a shit at all and just sit back and milk. I FEEL LIKE the "bugfixes" and other "patch" is just a fluff at this point. We've been watching this in development for years now. it's been 5+ years and only 13 anims and 5 are reused. that's a very low amount. i know that 1 anims per month MIGHT BE a little too much for some, but a lot of solo devs manage to do that AND MORE, and they are a team as well. eromancer team takes about around 4-5+(?) months for a completely new animation?(i think currently it's beyond 5 months now since the last new one.) and i feel like that's wayyyy too much time.

i know there are some things that we don't know in the background, that's why i ease off with other devs but you can kinda tell what's going on if you have watched eromancer team for this long. for me im upset because the game could've been a great one and yet its being used for this kind of scheme lol.

Oh wait, fam. That changes everything, now.

If it's a team? Woah. There's something fucky going on something fierce, then. 13 anims, 5 re-used? So it's basically 8, then. In 5 years?

OK, guys. My bad. I apologize. It's on me, I'm a dumbass, I'll take my L at the door.

I completely understand, now.

As a potential customer in the future, well, I don't think spending my money on something this barren would even be worth it -- looking at the long term, of course. I mean, the boy got three different projects with that small of a team working it with several priority levels? Looking at it, the damn team probably strained from the first two (Pure Onyx and XXXIV) and then as a side hustle, working again on Malise and the Machine

Well, that's the reality. Eromancer wanted to make a polished foundation first and foremost, then the scenes can come at a later date...

And the last time I played this, the seggs initiation for the Splicer Thugs wasn't even there yet. You know, as in Onyx just flaunting a sign that read "Animation is in Progress"... maybe because Patreon and MasterCard/Visa is on the crusade on the hentai

Game trailers and descriptions are extremely shallow representations of the actual product and are always used for nothing else besides marketing, so judging wether or not to spend your money based on those is, to me, extremely ignorant towards your own wallet.
Nevermind the fact that they are meaningless and outdated crap in the context of in-development products.
It's as though they've never seen a trailer before. Hell, look at major mainstream game releases. The entire trailer is all of the most robust and exciting cinematic sequences of the game. Rarely any actual gameplay, usually very little plot reveal. "Here's some cool graphics and explosions with a dramatic LaFontaine/Pepper-sounding voiceover! Pre-order now!!!"
