>_> Cut that 15 month figure in about half and you have about the actual time it took for v0.3.I then have an indirect question about that
Have you ever thought about realizing your goals that you set on patreon?
Specifically meant here is the search for team members and resources in order to be able to work on radiant in a more targeted and faster manner.
Because what you have planned for the game and the time between updates I do not know how long this will go well.
I honestly doubt the people on Patreon will be loyal to you long enough if this continues, I wish that it stays that way,
but a 0.3 version in 15 months is really not a great achievement, or do you really believe that people will wait 6 - 8 years for a "finished" game?
Please don't get it wrong now, because i love your work and the game so far, i'm just afraid that in a matter of time this will be a dead one.
And yeah, we're currently in that process but it's not that easy to do/not something that will happen overnight if we want to keep the same level of quality for our projects. Alorth posted here not far back explaining that he's been training apprentices to help with his work which will certainly be a load off his shoulders once finished, and not something he could've done without us reaching our goals. Until they're ready, though, it's actually extra work for him.
All of that said I wouldn't worry too much as I'm confident our support will only grow as time goes on and we release more updates, but eh, these things can be pretty unpredictable and you frankly just never know. Perhaps you're right.
Either way, how many people support us is not at the forefront of our minds right now: if it was we'd just churn out 20-30m partial/prototype updates every 30 days with little thought or care going into the overall quality of the product. It's not hard to do and we very much would do so if money was all we were concerned about.
Creating the game and doing it right by those who enjoy it is what matters most to us... and we've been very vocal/communicative with our supporters that this means taking a little longer to ensure we get it right. So far, these notions have primarily been met with agreement and encouragement. And so far, the updates we've put out have been met with nothing but appreciation & positivity from our supporters.
Glad you like the game my friend... keep enjoying it and don't get absorbed into the void that is this comment section If you'd like to know what people actually think about the game and the work we're doing, join us on our official Discord, or a general lewd games Discord like LGP.
A common (and rather bewildering) misconception, one that your comment seems to imply, is that sitting around and not putting out updates for as long as possible somehow leads to growth and more money. This is rather mindboggling to me, as the long gap between updates only makes us lose money. Every time we put out an update we see a surge in our supporters and in-turn our income. Every time there's a gap between updates we lose a large quantity of supporters and in-turn, a large chunk of our income.Of course Devs do not care if their fans will wait more than 4,5 years for a completed game. They only care how much they earn each month until the game is finished or abandoned. So this is the once per year update game, take it or leave it dude.
This is due to a variety of things like post-game hype, trending threads like this one, additional exposure from sites like F95Zone, and more. To anyone who's paid attention to our subscriber statistics it should be very clear that if our only concern was making money the best course of action for us would be to just throw something together and push it out as fast as possible. Meanwhile, we do the opposite and this is because we care about the game and its players more than our income.
